He's right tbh. I think there are good reasons to choose _not_ have such a young child be a judge, but I think it's cute that they went for it. But when they do, they should then cater to that. If one of the judges was vegetarian, they'd have to take that into account too after all. It doesn't have to be limiting, either; dietary restrictions (like "no alcohol" or "no meat or fish") can, counterintuitively, actually lead to the discovery of a bigger, richer culinary world that would have remained undiscovered or unexplored otherwise. This was pretty early on in the series, unfortunately. Therefore the cliché of Eugene always putting lots of alcohol wasn't so established yet. But nevertheless, Eugene could have taken this as a personal challenge: "how do I do crazy and interesting flavours if alcohol is a non-starter?" Bit sad that he wasted that opportunity.

This series in a nutshell Eugene: Doesn’t try hard, most creative, best presentation, random mix of Asian spices and alcohol lots of alcohol, always adds too much eggs. Ned: The most plain and least creative, but knows the most about baking, nearly always wins. Zach: Overly confident, adds every single ingredient he sees, thinks he knows what he’s doing but has no idea, either undercooks it or burns it. Keith: Daddy’s Favourite, barely ever holds its shape, also has no idea what he’s doing, gets angry when he loses.
