Nope, I've done it too, misremembering a recipe that said teaspoon as tablespoon of baking soda and it did smell weird, kind of like fish. Actually more specifically it smelled like the air you let out of a tire... chemically speaking I believe it's the formation of mercaptans that makes that smell (I know this from winemaking). Also I suspect the baking soda was also responsible for the black raspberries, it causes the natural pigments in some fruits and vegetables to turn blue or green, especially noticeable with blueberries, red onions, wild grapes and red cabbage but I could see it happening with raspberries too if you had T HAT much baking soda.

Incredulous that Zach subjected everyone to his idea LOL, all the judges are such good sports. At one point I was laughing but no sound came out...
