The TTC bus driver who thought he was riding the rocket for real!

If you thought that the TTC collectors sleeping on the job are bad, what do you say to this?
This bus driver drove on nearly a kilometer westbound on `Right of Way' streetcar tracks on Queensway (Queen Streetcar Route 501). He didn't stop until he crashed into the utility pole in the middle of the track. None of the people involved in the rescue had the slightest clue as to what the driver of the bus was trying to do. Note that these new fangled Hybrid Electric Buses cost upward of a million dollars in taxpayers money.
On this same day, a pedestrian got pinned and killed on the same streetcar route. I don't know the details so I am not blaming anyone yet.

No. When I went to the Hillcrest yard open house a couple of years ago, I had talked to the GM of Bus Mechanics at the TTC, and he told me they are $250,000. They are kind of a waste, because the government gave them money to but these buses, so they can't say no. (they don't like the Orion VII NG HEV because the engine burns out REALLY fast). They would have rather bought the 2008 model of the NF D40LF CNG. Trust me, these buses are $250,000. No more. No less.

The YRT people are worse, they do much less work than the TTC yet they expect to be paid more. And in their strike protest, they even try to slow down the TTC commute by blocking Finch Station which is completely unreasonable.

There is no correlation between the model of bus and the stupidity of the person driving the bus. I don't think giving the guy in the video a GM or a 9400 would have magically prevented him from driving on the Queensway.

With all due respect unless this is the driver's first day in Toronto he has no excuse. This is and has always been streetcars ONLY in the centre. There is NOTHING wrong with the Queensway car lanes. Just an example of a terrible, terrible driver.
