This is still one of my all-time favorite songs. The Tubes are such an awesome band. RIP Vince Welnick :(

Saw them at least 2 times in 81/82 at the Reseda Country Club in the San Fernando Valley, CA. When they played White Punks on Dope, I was hooked. They're different and original.

I was at this concert! These guys were so much fun in concert. I'm surprised that there are not more live clips posted. If I had some I'd post em!

I'm in Los Angeles, CA and I saw The Tubes back in 75' at the Roxy in West Hollywood when their first album came out. The Roxy holds, maybe 600-700 people-tops! To see a show like the one they put on at a place that small and initimate-THAT was an experience! They were absolutely amazing!

I looked up their albums on wikipedia before. I believe is was TOTO'S STEVE LUKATHER who played lead guitar on the studio version. He co-write that song and TALK TO YA LATER with FEE and DAVID FOSTER beside playing guitar as a guest Furthermore, wikipedia says that CHICAGO'S BILL CHAMPLIN and TOTO'S BOBBY KIMBALL sang harmony vocals on the 1983 album.

I'm in Los Angeles and I saw them at a place in the west end of the San Fernando Valley called The Canyon Club back in 08'. The Canyon holds maybe 1200-1400 people. The line-up they had then was pretty much everyone except for Bill Spooner, Re Styles and of course Vince Welnic (R.I.P.) They're still amazing, and Fee's voice after 30 plus years STILL sounds fantastic!! As you said, the stage show is toned down somewhat-but STILL fantastic!

Saw them in October 1983 at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Wow! Their show was really sexual and exciting, really physical. I still have the whiffle ball that Fee batted out during "Sports Fans."

Yes, I believe it was played by him on one of his vintage Les Pauls- I'm not sure of the year tho!

What a shame the original lineup did not reunit along time ago. Plus, BILL CHAMPLIN and BOBBY KIMBALL should have joined them onstage to provide the harmony vocals like they did on the studio version.

The whammy bar is pretty prevalent in the studio solo, which leads me to believe that it was recorded on a Fender. Gibson LPs, generally speaking, are fitted with Bigsby tremolo arms which produce a different sound than whammy bars.

The crowd looks SO unimpressed with their "performance", it's sad yet hilarious at the same time.

Prairie Prince is wearing an Outside Inside shirt, but that album wasn't released until 1983, are we sure this concert is from 1982?

@TheJimbarnes Great show! Small show these days, but lots of great tunes. Fee is still great, Rick Anderson looks like he did in the 80's, Roger Steen is still a very nice guy and plays a mean guitar. David Medd, a new guy that I don't know much about. Prairie Prince wasn't there that night, another guy played... don't know him, but did great. I would go see them again. Check out my video uploads of the show that night.
