I didn't know. A great band that I grew up.on, and I didn't know. I wish I hadn't been so stupid and appreciated them.

One goofball wag commented dumbly on this great Tubes New York club show in 2019 on You Tube that it is only money not imagination that makes our reality. I replied and retorted with this royal flush, "Money is a tool of instrumental reason that facilitates an idea whose time has emerged, that has both obvious merit and ductile utility; but seriously folks, pay Mr. Waybill his fee before demanding any needless moneyback guarantee!". Ah yes I just love my description of 'ductile utility' when describing the extruded genius of Fee Waybill and The Tubes in performance. It is pronounced as 'duct tape' (not duck tape) as the Yanks are so fond of saying. We here in Oz use the English version, being 'gaffer tape' used to affix and fasten loose cabling in da gaff (the jobsite, stage area, construction site and redidence or property at hand.

There's a lot of cool bands out there. Many of them have legit bad ass songs, too. But, no one is cooler, or has a more badass song, than ZZ Top with 'La Grange'. 🤘🏽🤘🏽

I graduated HS early in the 80’s. For my Senior year I bought me a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T w/383 magnum - Holley 750 double pumper, was easy to make great money when you were raised on a rather large ranch/farm in S. Idaho…not much to blow your “grundage” on here. Only thing lacking was a decent car sound system. Back then they didn’t have near the @ss kicking equipment they have now. Had all Alpine and Nakamichi. My point to all that verbal diarrhea is thus: must have been mid-August and prepping for long car trips for college when a loud pop occured. It was this song…La Grange. Happened when Gibbons hits those very high notes on his axe. ZZ TOP fried my speakers. Funny later on in life but, my brain reacted like the world was ending! 🤘🤘🤘

These are not the original vocalists and a sad facsimile. Their less than stellar gritty voices were part of their appeal. Somethings you cannot make better.

I don't think this was the exact show I saw in "82 but I sure remember him coming out wearing the flashing Quay glasses and the oversized sausage down the pants. I sure had never seen anything like that, or even close to it. And I remember thinking the girls were hot a.f.
