This video looks at both the economic developments and the failures which occurred in the reign of Edward VI. Somerset was renowned for many economic failures: the further debasement of the coinage, the sheep tax of 1548 and the war in Scotland. nevertheless, Northumberland brought slight improvements with increased trade in Africa, a reversal of the debasement of the coinage and the Treaty of Boulogne.
