I don't think people get stuck in this illusion purposely. I felt overwhelmed by involuntary feelings of longing to the point where I felt I was crazy. I prayed so many times to be freed. There is a right time to every moment that is meant to be. As far as I'm concerned the twin flame journey is about narcissistic abusive relationships. The twin flame creates a strong mirror to what bs were allowing in our lives due to childhood trauma where we weren't allowed boundaries or to be ourselves etc. We had to manipulate to get our needs met. The empath subconsciously chose to please, to FEEL the mood of the environment in order to pre-empt potential situations and gave of ourselves to placate the abusers or to be 'good enough' to get a drop of love. The narcissists decided this world is every person for themselves and behave in a way that will get them what they want. When we're faced with such a potent concentrated version of this as the twin flame we have to either romanticise it or free ourselves. Narcissists are the perpetual victum.
