The Twingo Challenge. The affordable track toy battle

James & Simon go head to head in this just for fun racing challenge on a budget.
Follow along as the founder of Auto Finesse (James) goes head 2 head with his longest standing employee (Simon) to see who can build the quickest track day toy from a Renault Twingo RS Cup and a budget of £5000.
It was never our intention to do this, it wasn't planned, it wasn't ever really even spoken about being a challenge, however during the Pandemic we found ourselves missing the fun we usually have with our show cars, and track days still operating throughout we thought what better way to pursue our passion for cars than buying a cheap, fun small car to take out on the track. Nothing too serious, just something we can pass the keys around to and most importantly have some fun in.
Well - that was the plan, but things escalated quickly as they always seem to do here at Auto Finesse.
Please when watching this remember we are not professional mechanics by any stretch of the imagination. All work was checked by qualified engineers before use, and both cars are owned by their respective drivers. Don't try this at home, in the garage, or anywhere really.
This is just for fun. Your Entertainment, and to show you that having a good time with your mates and cars is what it's all about.

Cool journey. Started with the 58HP 1.2 and stopped with the TCE GT. Not a RS by any means, but the turbo offers nice remap possibilities. Still, the RS is the one for curves and the tracks.

I had Twingo Rs for trackdays. Std apart from upgraded pads. Did 3500 miles on track with it. Never missed a beat. Bloody awesome standard in the wet, pretty much the fastest thing at Silverstone national. Great cars!

I snapped up a '59 plate RS Twingo 1 owner last year, love throwing it around the moor roads. Have immobilser issues atm so is off road, doing my head in. Great video lads.

Pretty awesome video loving it, only thing, that octane booster raises octane by 2-5 points, point as in 0.1 so the fuel would of been 99.4 ron (y) looking forward to more vids on the Twingo's :D

Possible yes, a lot of work for a small gain and we find turbo charged anything and it’s just agro, turbo charge an engine never developed to take boost and your in a whole world of pain and problems. No one wants to turn up to track do a lap and spend the rest of day trying to fix issues.

because the twingo has a better chassis than its older brothers 172 and 182. it's a shame they didn't do it with 165cv the twingo

@@AutoFinesseChannel because that will force you to be more creative. Before I opened the video I knew the cars will be stripped. Also weren’t the cars supposed to be usable? Maybe my definition of usable track cars is different
