I fought AcidAceBB, but I used the cheatcode to make him spawn in an encounter with the "Warning" signal on the screen. I never fought him the legit way. Heck, I assumed he was a scrapped boss and was not possible to fight legit

@@XurkVG Impossible? I don't think that word means what you think it means. It's _improbable_ that a Star Force Legacy collection would happen. It never had the following or popularity that MMBN had. It still doesn't. There's a good reason ZX got stuffed into the Zero collection too. The mid to late 2000s was the burnout period for Mega Man.

It was always so disappointing to me to learn about all of the unique stuff in the MMBN series that I couldn’t do anymore, because it became one of my favorite series after my uncle would let me play on his gameboy when I was younger, and now learning about this (which I still had no idea about) just blows my mind. Two (3) whole bosses, which the average player has never seen and nobody will ever see again on original hardware. Crazy stuff.

Especially considering that Capcom went the Pokemon route for the series and included more and more chips and power ups you could only get via event, most of which being Japan exclusive. If you were a player overseas, 9 times outta 10, you were screwed.

The online aspect of mmsf3 was VERY popular tho. I remember fighting out 999 battles in mmsf3, I even have the screen shots to prove it. 20 battles against different ppl is nothing.

Yeah, I feel this video is made in the theory mindset instead of the actual usage situation, because it was pretty consistent and simple to reach. I did it in both my Red Joker saves. Also unlike the BNLC, you can keep rematching the same opponent over and over.

It being a handheld game is what makes it even more possible! The game also rewards you with attack stars if you win enough, so there’s enough reason to have a long online session.

@@MidniteWv4 What I mean is that I can commonly sit and play a handheld game for an hour... on the bus, where maintaining a wifi connection would be impossible. A kid in the backseat with their parents driving would have the same problem. That's the standard use case for handhelds to me, not just being portable but actively on the move.

@ I don’t know what you’re going for if your example to the contrary is using wifi on the go. Because then you should not be having a long serious gaming session in that situation. This feature is very much a play at home and hone your skills. It being a handheld at home means you can bring it to your room and play or even on the can.

I actually did manage to fight Acid Ace BB the legit way. Used to grind out the wifi battles in SF3 and I remember when I first encountered him and wondered how that happened. Didn't realize anything was up until I got the symbol on the title screen.

In Mega Man BN4 You can’t beat Shademan in his first encounter but in his 2nd encounter you can with Dark Chips only because it’s plot armour I guess.

How i would fix it. In online once you hit 5 wins(because honestly the feature isnt that good and add an AI ghost system for offline when the server go down) you get a Ace Online or Joker Online proof key item. It will just sit in your inventory as a neat medal for a side mode you played. Then in Postgame you find a door asking for the proof and a new dungeon just for Ace AND Joker Who you fight first will be decided by version Opposite day Getting the Other Proof you need. Then after both are defeated you get the AJ Sigma Proof and open up the True Boss the of the Crimson Dragon Sigma.

best way to make the potential Legacy Collection TRUELY stand out is to bring back the constellation cards from the first and second game, plus the Noise Poker and Purpose cards in the third game. considering how much the Brother Band system could have benefitted from the 3DS's Street Pass system if it were implemented, there was a lot of missed potential for Star Force's multiplayer... it would also be great if the DX mod of the first game could be implemented, but I doubt that... I also doubt there's a chance of them bringing over the Operate Shooting Star remake of MMBN1 along with it...

Wait, but I've completed MMSF3 100% before. I think there's a code that lets you forego the whole 20 battles, and not an action replay code, but rather a title screen code where tapping completion stars in a certain order let you unlock certain things. Could someone corroborate?

The sigma bosses are all post post game stuff. You get the "100% clear screen" by getting all the gold stars and beating Crimson Dragon SP. Crimson Dragon Sigma is unlocked by getting all the gold and silver stars, which required a few extra things after that.

It takes a bit of fiddling with wifi settings but you can still do online battles for SF3 and unlock all 3 bosses in current year on real hardware. I know because me and a friend did it together and had a fun session of 20 matches with a lot of back and forth.

It is definitely better on paper to just need 20 total online wins which won't be region locked. However, most modern platforms make us pay for online, there is a low chance of crossplay and these are conditions to access meaningful offline content despite the value of the matches probably being very low (not comparable to someone making it through a dungeon which had deliberate balancing). This is before getting into how it just adds a new timer till it becomes almost inaccessible.

Not trying to brag, but I managed to fight DreadJoker, defeat him, as well as Crimson Dragon Sigma. The big thing that helped me was because just how broken powerful the later-level Finalized Noise folders become when you’ve got high Noise, and Red Joker having the Double Damage effect when doing a Lock On attack. 😂

given that getting wins against randoms is kinda hard to do i have another thought after doing the 20 fights, because lets be real we are busy these days, you get a key item you take that somewhere ingame and get to fight them. as much as you want. alternatively they could make a wave card for this, like mmbnlc ereader card redeems, but only let you claim it if you have every icon in the save that doesnt require these bosses you could then take that key item, online obtained or not, to... i dunno somewhere in the space waves. we can already refight the R bosses there as much as we want so it would fit.

I definitely would not have been able to beat them as a kid anyway tho - Definitely would be cool for them to be permanently available for the inevitable SF Legacy Collection

Starforce 3 only gave you the option to fight against friends. There’s no way I’m misremembering. I played the heck out of the starforce games

I think you could fight these bosses through local wireless and not wifi as well. I don't recall it being 25% either I think your first time was guaranteed. I remember doing this fight years ago! It's a bit prohibited since you'd need 2 consoles and games to make it work...

Still have my cartridge with the silver AJ Star. I battled them quite a few times. Never really saw them as that much harder than other high-level bosses. The Sigma bosses are definitely harder. Except moon destroyer sigma. That guy is easy no matter what form he is in. The sigma variant is just a damage sponge.

The DS's online is just bad. It can only connect to an insecure entrypoint, which were phased out rather quickly for being insecure. As far as I am concerned, this plattform does not have an online functionality and it was introduced with the DSi.

My story of finding this boss for the first time was one where I was too late to the party, so I made due with a cheat to try my mettle at the Black Ace fight, only to realize that, despite how well I was doing, I never got above Noise Level 50% and the fight had the normal encounter theme, immediately cluing me in that it just simply put the Acid Ace BB fight over the Random Encounter, and took it as a trade-off for using a Cheat I can fight the boss, but my strongest tool will not be acceptable. I still beat the fight regardless, and got the AJ Star, and was able to eventually fight the last few Sigma bosses, though Sirius gave me trouble (and it being a random encounter didn't help) Ultimately it didn't matter, as even when I get to the final Crimson Dragon (and got my ass handed a couple of times) I lost all of the data on that N2DS after it bricked.

So are we truly calling them unbeatable? Unfightable seems like a more appropriate term since you can beat them if you fight them, you just have to fight them, it is possible through AR codes and there is apparently some wifi trick that can work as well but calling them unbeatable is a stretch since you get a reward for beating them, IMO unbeatable means the battle can’t be won under any legitimate circumstance, I would count using an AR to encounter them outside of that since you are using it to encounter them not win the fight, Bass from BN3 is truly unbeatable since his aura never goes down and I believe if you use a GameShark code to delete him then you get nothing as a reward and the story still progresses as usual as if you lost anyways

4:46 I think you mean if, not when. That series was falling off from the start and it started at the start of the Mega Man burnout period of the mid to late 2000s. The Transer LCD toy was cheap AF, the anime was cheaply made and Star Force 3 didn't get any toys save for the promo cards nor did it get a season of the anime.
