Thanks for visiting my town and Park! I live about a 3 minute bike ride from Fayetteville Park Trail which ties in to Long Point through Wolf Creek Trail and Timber Ridge Trail. I was one of the first people to cross the NRGB in 1977. I'd just turned 16 and dad/mom let me go to the grand opening. As far as crowds, the weekdays are often desolate but weekends get crowded. During high school (1979 grad from Oak Hill High School) we'd visit the cliffs on out Lansing Road, past Endless Wall a few more miles. It was referred to as Beauty Mountain then. At the time there was no access to the river below Endless Wall (Beauty Mountain) by car so some of us boys would walk down off the cliffs all the way to the river to fish then walk back up! Now, at 62, I wouldn't walk down there and back up for a 50 lb bass! I don't know if you're coming back to WV in the future but if you do I'd recommend the Potomac Highlands in Pocahontas County. Check out the Highland Scenic Highway. You can thank me afterwards! Stay in the town of Cass. There are old renovated company houses that can be rented (reasonably). There is an old company store and a Scenic Railroad that carries you to the top of some of the most beautiful mountains in the Eastern US.

Also, hike (or bike) the Greenbrier River Trail. It's over 70 miles, starting in Cass and following the Greenbrier River downstream to the town of Lewisburg. Also, if you want seclusion, I'd suggest a trip to the Cranberry Glades Backcountry (Richwood WV). It's 16 miles (I think) of total seclusion. No roads (other than the trail alongside Cranberry River), no houses, no structures, no electricity, no cell phone service and not many people at all. Check it out

I love these suggestions...we're coming soon and plan to stay in Fayetteville, though. I wonder if I should change plans?

I hiked Endless wall with my friend and our three dogs a few weeks ago. We started at the parking lot above Nutall ,because the other lots were full, and traveled clockwise so the views were excellent rest stops as were getting a bit tired toward the end. It made a 3.5 mile loop. That last half mile on the road is uphill and cars go by fast. We saw only a few people until the last mile or so between Diamond point and the trail head so my guess is most people miss out on the other 8 overlook points ,mostly minor but one really nice one, and the other beauty the trail has to offer. Definitely rated moderate for us. Mostly easy but a few spots were a little challenging for us, being a bit older and with assorted limitations. If you have a dog be sure to grab your bark ranger certificate and tags at the visitors center.

So beautiful! Those are some amazing views! I do not have anything on my West Virginia to do list. So now New River Gorge NP, and these two trails specifically, are added to the list. Thanks for showing us what we need to go see :D

Any suggestions for footwear on the trials? Visiting in about two weeks a

We just wore hiking shoes (not boots). The trails are not super rugged -- I think that standard tennis shoes would be fine as well.

Inspired to go on these trails! I am a solo traveler and only go on trails that are well marked. How well would you say that these trails are marked? Is one trail more marked than another?
@TodayisanAdventureDay Жыл бұрын
They were both marked very well, so you should be just fine. I hope you enjoy them!

While visiting New River Gorge, we stayed at Pipestem State Park. We did put out a video review on that one as well.

I came here to hear what the sweet puppy had to say about the hike, but you didn’t let him talk at all 😢

What's the problem with e-bikes? If you don't like them, don't ride them. Peddle on

Any ticks? Lol
@TodayisanAdventureDay4 ай бұрын
No trouble with ticks, but we did encounter an outbreak of stinkbugs. Might have just been the time of year. Honestly, I'll take stinkbugs over ticks any day.
