"Shin-" is approximately equivalent to "neo-" and would roughly translate to New. So Shin Akuma, could be thought of as "The new and improved Akuma". It typically just denotes some sort of upgrade or improvement.

Shin, written as 真 means True or Real. Akuma 悪魔 is the name of a type of evil fire spirit commonly translated as demon or devil in English and is the name given to Satan in Japanese Christianity. You can translate Shin Akuma as True Demon if you like. Funnily enough Akuma’s Japanese name Gouki 豪鬼 means Great Demon. Sidenote: Oni 鬼 is commonly translated as ogre so in other words Shrek is an example.

Definitely watch the Mortal Kombat Fatalities Also if you think about it this is kind of a bracket match that started years ago with Akuma vs Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn vs M. Bison And the biggest problem I have with the battle was that Shao Kahn says "Flawless Victory" at the end, however the GAPING HOLE IN HIS CHEST Strongly disagrees since a flawless victory is when the winner doesn't take Any Damage. A better line would have been a line from the game "It's Official, YOU SUCK". Also we didn't even see the finishing blow and I'm not really digging the voice they did for Kahn

I know some people claim that they used non-canon scaling for Kahn, while not giving Akuma non-canon scaling to Asura, thus screwing Akuma. Whether the scaling thing is legit or not, one thing that's clear is that they did not, and I repeat, DID NOT screwed Akuma. Kahn legimitately claps him. They gave Kahn a calculation from a feat that had nothing to do with Blaze scaling and it got a number over 300 million times more than Akuma's best canon feat. Can't you people see how badly Akuma loses to Kahn? We went through this in Cable vs Booster Gold, just because a character is taken seriously in his/her series, doesn't mean he should beat someone who isn't taken as seriously in their series. If you prefer Street Fighter over Mortal Kombat then fine, but don't act like Kahn doesn't destroy Akuma, because he 100% does.

I explained the whole realm merging thing in my own comment, and the defense feats too. Basically, it should have been a stomp but the other way around. Heck, I don't know a lot about SF, but I know a lot about MK (possibly even more than some of MK's current writers) and I know enough to say Shao Kahn shouldn't even be able to win against Dan Hibiki, let alone Akuma.

I’m always annoyed when people say that they used non canon material to support Kahn winning and didn’t do the same for Akuma. They actually did use non canon stuff for Akuma, and it’s way more flagrant than using character endings to support the final boss’s power. That Akuma feat where he jumps into Heaven? That’s from a crossover. Oni? He doesn’t canonically exist in Street Fighter. At best, he’s just a what-if character that, according to the fortune teller Rose, will eventually become real, just not for a long time. When they fight, she says “Why... I never expected you to appear now..."

The research on this was odd since they used a non canon feat for Shao Khan but didn't use Akuma showing up in Asura's Wrath, where he's a DLC boss and fights the main character for so long that they--well, maybe it would be best to react to the Boss Rage video for it from Maximilian Dood because it's a truly incredible thing to behold even if you haven't played the game.

This episode was wrong on so many levels but the two biggest mistakes were counting the whole realm merging thing as Shao Kahn's own power and also pretending he could survive Cetrion's fatality. _ Merging realms is not an indicator of physical or even magical strength, it is more like a switch or a ritual. It's like saying "this little 4 year old boy can press the button on an elevator and that elevator can theoretically move 5 Nikokado Avocados from the ground floor to the 25th floor, therefore the 4 year old child has command over that kind of power and we're gonna count it as his own strength in a vs debate." _Shao Kahn does not survive Cetrion's fatality, he doesn't survive ANYONE'S fatality. Even Kano's. If he didn't immediately die to Raiden's Elder God powered lightning that doesn't mean he can keep fighting because after that he could barely even stand, let alone move. And that's assuming Raiden used the full power of even a single Elder God in that one attack.

They did not say survived a Fatality, they were talking about Elder Gods, dumbass. He was still able to fight off Raiden's Elder God lightning and the lightning struggled to kill himso yes he does scale to that and yes he did survive a fatality, he survived Liu Kang's Fire Fist which is a Fatality Try coming up with points and try better next time

The Elder Gods hit with the force of a Planet which Cetrion's fatality supports also Kahn did survive a fatality and the most damage it did was knock him unconscious. You are just salty Kahn rightfully won the fight.

Not really sure if Akuma would actually win this, but several things they used for Shao Kahn's analysis didn't really make sense. Scaling Shao Kahn's speed to Cetrion's laser makes no sense because nobody is shown dodging that attack or keeping up with it or anything, it's just an unrelated statistic. However much power it takes to merge realms doesn't really seem like it should matter in a combat scenario either especially since it isn't that clear how it's being done (Shao Kahn does have a bunch of magic Shadow Priests hanging around after all, and it's not like it's done immediately), and Shao Kahn gets regularly beat by people who clearly don't have the kind of power to do that like Liu Kang, Kitana, and Kotal Kahn. The thing I have the biggest issue with though, is when they mention him surviving getting impaled through the chest and getting blasted by Raiden with the Elder God's power, because it completely ignores the context of those scenes. Sure, he technically survives getting a hole punched through him, but it DID take him out and he was assumed dead and even required someone else's magic to heal him to the point of being able to walk, and even then he was being held up as he walked. And as for Raiden and the Elder Gods, their attack fails, but IMMEDIATELY after they beat him up in a fight and proceed to kill him with the SAME attack he survived a few minutes earlier. All in all, a bit of a shame for me because I was really excited for this fight when it was announced

Shao Kahn can keep up with Raiden who fights at the speed of lightning and he merges realms with his magic as stated in MK3 intro nothing suggests the Shadow Priest and Akuma's island busting is not combat related either also most of his defeats are outliers considering he holds back thus tournament rules plus MK cretors confirmed that Shao Kahn can survive impalements and even without a heart and he did tank that Elder God blast, he died from the last blast cause he was beaten Go research MK and don't make vague downplays
