A d100 is really not needed, because it's just replaced with two d10s but a battlemat I bought a year ago is still the most important item for our games. The reason is that I usually run more classical, combat-centered DnD, and almost every session there is a battle, so doing it without a map would be boring. I bought some battlemat dy paizo, and it folds down to a nice sheet size of my laptop, and unfolds to cover the whole table, so it's nice to carry and it's really useful. It's about the type of the game you run, but for people who run more combat it's really important.

I have the giant metal D100 and it's totally impractical. It's more of a statement piece and is only used for like super critical, in person, suspenseful rolls in CoC because, well, it takes forever to stop moving and has to be rolled on the floor like a bowling ball. That being said, in the event of a real life CoC zombie apocalypse, that D100 in a sock is a viable option and very much on theme.

It is a nice dice to bring out for a statement piece. I have done that before and its always fun!

Some good points. I never use my d100 either. The battlemap can work well if you're not using 5e though. I tend to run OSR/OSE stuff, where combat is a lot more deadly and nail biting, and I find the battle maps help people visualize that better if you're doing a face to face game. Online, I use Foundry VTT. With 5e though, which is basically super in depth fantasy superheroes, combat is ... long. And often, I find the mats hinder that game. So for me, it really depends on the system.

Why did it take the algorithm so long to show me a fellow blerd who makes D&D content! Liked,followed.

I play both in person and online, I like tactical play ... so I have a battlemat - YMMV D100 ... I know someone who has one... don't bother, they roll forever, are near impossible to read, and a pair of d10's work better ...

The readability of a d100 is one thing I did not mention in the video. It is worth investing (if you get one) buy a d100 that is colored white or better on the eyes.

Good points I still don’t have a d100, I just use the two d10’s. I’m fortunate enough to be able to buy minis that I really enjoy collecting

Two d10s is a great substitute. I usually state with d10 will represent each number when using two d10s.

I litterally use my battlemats every single time I DM.
@Blerdy_Disposition9 ай бұрын
Heck yeah. What battlemats do you have?

@@Blerdy_Disposition I have the brown chessex mat that most folks have (both sizes) and I have a bunch of terrain mats from Mats by Mars. I do DM exclusively in person though.

I personally don't do regrets, life is too short for that. But the aspect I see most often people struggle with is when they buy every book in a line, just because of a sunk cost fallacy, even when the material is rather poor quality or i they have not even the time to read all the sourcebooks. I would say that is what keeps most of the bigger games afloat and is the reason why quality assurance is not really a thing in the TTRPG space.
