Thanks I have expanded the drill & do this w/ my two dogs. One is 6y & the other 2y. One honors while the other runs. We do doubles & triples w/ a bit of distance. They come to me w/ the bumper then are sent back to home plate to run the next mark. Great drill. Saves much time training & increases their memory. Followed your DVD w/ the kennel as home & no one should have any problem. Thanks again Bill.

While this is an older video..... i need to IMPLEMENT THIS! Make time! Thanks for this simple, yet effective training tip. That dog is sharp too. You also gave me a great idea/use for our dog kennel that our lab isnt able to stand up in anymore. He outgrew it. At 8 months old, he is pushing 80 pound's already. I can pull the top and use it for this training as a "home plate".

Excellent obedience. Well done. Comments regarding sending the dog on the back command. I use the dogs name as the release on marks and "back" on blinds. That said Bills commands work for him and his dog so who cares what and when the commands are issued? At the end of the day if the dog can perform in the field or hunt test that's all that matters.

Once again thanks for efforts. Even if I was not learning something new, which I am its a riot to watch your dogs with such great attitudes. You're earning your wings, unless God is a training pigeon; then we are all screwed. Thanks Joe

Hello, I am a first time dog owner. I would like to get my dog to enjoy fetching as much as Smoke does. I will try to apply some of your concepts and see how it works. Thanks for the great videos, even though I have been confused several times in the teachings. You are like a sensei.

So grateful for all your videos! What would you recommend for warming up the dog? My pup is full of drive, and is missing the "self-preservation" gene like many of our favorite hunting dogs, so this is something important to me, but I'm not sure how to address it. Thanks for any comments!

why do you send him on back with both marks?

same here, always the name for a mark and back for a blind.

Why do you say back when he is running marks? and why do you have him heal on both sides? you are only supposed to have the dog on the opposite side that you shoot your gun.

Two sided dogs are great in field trials or hunt tests. I use the cue switch. If honoring at a hunt test it is a huge advantage to put the dog on the opposite side of the working dog putting yourself between the working dog and your honor dog. It's also another option when the dog won't agree on an initial line for a blind. But yeah if your dog is a hunter only one sided is the way to go.
