As I was saying to someone only today, part of me laughs a lot when watching their sketches but there's also part that simply marvels at the ability demonstrated. Absolute genius!

I love how in the first part of the sketch the women are trying not to laugh. Great script, great comedic actors!🤣👍 I discovered the two Ronnies just a couple a years ago through KZbin greetings from Sweden! They're hilarious🤣👍 Also love the pub owner at the end!🤣👍

Guy Standing (1873-1937) was a British and Hollywood actor, grandfather of the current actor Sir John Standing and a distant relative of mine. His son, Michael Standing, went on to be Head of Light Entertainment at the BBC, and commissioned 'The Navy Lark', which featured Ronnie Barker!

Did Barker actually write all these word-mangling scripts ? he certainly defined the comedy formula, just wondering if he got staff to write a lot of it.
@johnmc3862 Жыл бұрын
Afaik He wrote nearly all of them. Genius of a writer and actor.
@TimLondonGuitarist Жыл бұрын
@@johnmc3862 he was the best of the non-alt comics, though he did drift into alt occasionally - the early sketch where he is middle class, Cleese is upper class and Corbett is lower class: as Corbett states - they all know their class ! (I summarise it for those who don't know it, I'm sure you do !)

Is it a difficult accent? It's a fairly standard accent to hear on British television so I suppose I'm used to it. Also, 'philistine' is Phyllis Stein, 'horoscope' is Horace Cope and 'that guy standing' is Guy Standing (thought you might like to know). Glad you can appreciate the comedy, wherever you're from. The Two Ronnies were great.
