After sitting in a barn for over 20 years it was up and running in less than 48 hours, a true testament to the great Doctors love and passion for the automobile. The new 2015 Corvette Z06 can now join this club. Equipped with the 8spd automatic transmission, the new Z06 managed to hit 0-60 mph in 2.95 seconds and cleared the 1/4 mile in 10.95 seconds....Amazing!

I don't really hate the Veyron.....I don't really like it either. It's undeniably impressive and is dominate at what it does. For me, however, I'd prefer something like a Venom GT, Ford GT (2005-2006), or a Noble M600. Why? Because they're more of a driver's car. I prefer the slower, yet more fun manual transmission. Those cars aren't fancy; they're built for one thing: fun factor. The Veyron is amazing and they should keep doing what they're doing. But if, and that's a big if, I could afford it there's no way I'd buy one. There's not really anything I like about the car but I do respect it and if anyone who doesn't like the Veyron doesn't at least respect it, then they're not true gearheads. TBH, my dream car is a Boss 302 LS, the beauty about cars is that there are so many different cars with different characteristics and people like different things. It comes down to preference.

Gotta love the "show-off launch control" of the Veyron. Not the fastest way to start of the line, but burns rubber to entertain the crowd. Very nice to finally see it in action! Of course, the best launch is obtained with less tire slip using the "normal" launch conrol. Nice to see Bugatti offer two launch control options.

The thing is, the GT-R costs less then the Porsche or Bugatti, is a 4 passenger coupe, has a V6 that gets 30mpg on the highway, drives like a luxury sedan, and can be used perfectly fine as an everyday car.

The AWD makes the car STABLE. Whilst accelerating through computerized torque vectoring. All new supercars have AWD with an automatic. RWD cars aren't as stable with that much power. My car has 500HP. My Jeep SRT is way more stable.

Strip the interior, install lighter seats, install a turbo or something? :) If you dont like the stripped look you could always replace the interior panels with like homemade plywood panels covered in black cloth or carbon fiber vinyl wrap or something :) Can look really sweet if done right!

lol All the try hards here digging on the Veyron. Running the GTR that hard, you'll have a busted transmission within the first 10k. Impressive numbers, still a $50,000 Nissan tho. The Porsche 911 is better engineered, but also costs a lot more. Still doesn't change the fact that you can't run it THAT hard and not expect something expensive to break. The Veyron is on a different level. It was designed to achieve acceleration and a top speed of 260mph+ day in and day out. The only wear item you'd have to be worried about is tires, and maybe a tank of gas. The Veyron is priced for the resources it needs to do what it does. It's heavy because its made of custom parts that are designed for the performance its meant to do. Much of the Nissan GTR is derived from parts from either an existing platform or parts made to a budget. It's a nice car... I'd take one in a heartbeat if someone gave me the keys. The Porsche, again, has parts from other production cars and is produced to a budget. IMO, it's probably the best 500hp car you can buy with a production budget that suits the performance its designed for - still will not be as reliable or as solid of a platform than the Veyron.

Okay then, what about the porsche 918 spyder, doesn't spend much gas since it's a hybrid, 0-60 in a mere 2.2 seconds, top speed of 210 mph which is still to high to ever reach even on a track, very reliable since it has german engineering, one of, if not the best one on the world, has all the luxury a high end car has (compare the veyron interior to that of the 918 spyder and all the little gadgets and luxurious you get along with technology and electronics) a nice design and a car that is also very good in all other aspects of performance like for instance taking a turn, somehting so basic yet forgotten by many because of the extreme concentration on just top speed and acceleration, this is proven since the 918 did the nurburging in 6:57, i think it's the second or third fastest road legal vehicle around, the old veyron did it on 7:40, the new one? there isn't a lap time but even a massive improvement of say 20 seconds would still be far off, one thing is for sure though, it's not breaking the 7 minute mark. so as you can see the porsche 918 spyder is way superior in every way to the bugatti except for top speed, and how much will it set you back? 845k, that is exactly 1,581,904 dollars less than the bugatti, and im sure that if porsche wanted to make a 260mph+ car they could very well do and make it just as good if not better than bugatti and still cost WAAAAY less, but since they are a smart company who makes the best cars for the best price they don't, because it's utterly useless, trust me, the veyron is (for it's price) a bad car, it's the best way to dump 2.4 million dollars just to show you're rich and have a useless top speed, don't get me wrong I respect bugatti and it's engineers for making a car that goes that speed and still remains stable, it's still amazing engineering, but it's extremely overpriced and useless to buy one, bugatti can shove their resources and custom parts up their ass, they are just trying to make good money from supercars, im sure it doesn't cost half as much to actualy produce the bugatti and if it does then I don't really know where all the money is going because what you get compared to what you pay is ridicoulous, the veyron isn't on any level and it's not a solid platform since it doen't gove you the whole package like the porsche does, hell, it doesn't even give you 1/6 of the package

***** First of all theres no real reason to put 918 against veyron manufacturer wise since both are owned by VAG. They are both german engineering and reliable and in case of veyron we know it since it has so many cars built (over 400) and sold - some have over 100k miles on them which is insane for a supercar. Second thing is that 918 is supercar on steroids while veyron is a more of a GT car on steroids. GT cars have always been more luxury oriented, heavy, lots of comforts, high end stereo, lots of soundproofing, more of a of low end torque pulling beast than high revving screamer, reasonable ground clearence, smooth in slow city traffic unlike most of the supercars etc. Theres just so much more things in cars than just some dry 0-60 or track lap time numbers. Finally, the 918 is a top notch new hypercar while veyron is 10 year old. Also the veyron has never done an official lap on ring - that 7:40 was done by journalists, with loaned car, with hired driver and in traffic with overtakings. Thats the shitty things about ring, everyone look at the times but don't take into account how it was done. Some tests are done by magazines where hired driver gets to do like 4-5 laps in traffic and thats it, weather might not be perfect etc. while in some other car's case manufacturer has rented box at the ring, their test driver has done over 1500 laps (like corvette for example) taking telemetry, adjusting, doing some more laps, picking perfect weather with perfect air humidity, track temperature, air tremperature etc.

***** you ever heard that less is more? You define luxury by how much visible buttons there are visible at first glance? Look at RR's or even new S class - theres not many buttons and knobs. Veyron's stereo may look simple but in reality its vwry expensive and custom built specifically for veyron so it plays disxs without a problem even at over 400km/h. Veyron isn't as advanced as P1 or 918 in the sense of being a modern hybrid hypercar but it surely still passes when it comes to materials being used and the engineering precision. Yes it is a guzzler but its 10 yeaes old, the engine is bulletproof and has lots of low end torque. I mean veyron's redline is what - 6500rpm but under heavy acceleration shifts at 5500 which is really low for a such huge horsepower engine.

sherman3211 Actually the Bugatti is equally matched to the Agera R.The original top speed of Bugatti was 276 mph and was forced to reduce the top speed 252 due to United State laws.While the Agera R topped in on 276 as well but wasn't forced to bring it down but Koenigsegg decided to bring the speed down to 260 anyways. Koenigsegg brought down the speed very recently so not many people know about this. And since people were racing them unevenly the Agera R was considered the fastest road legal car in the world.

David Justice The GTR is quick no doubt. However, it is uninspiring to drive and generic looking. It has to punch a giant hole in the air, thus giving it a very higher drag coefficient compared to the rest and has no soul. Definitely not a "drivers" car. Sorry.

Never apologize for speaking/typing your mind Rene. Your right, the GTR isn't the best looking at all, but remember it is a 4 seater. And yes, granted you'll probably only be able to fit midgets in the back but still worth noting. I think had it not been a 4 seater, it would have been designed to be a better looking vehicle. It has a soul, just not a pretty one. :D

I was talking about the aerodynamics of the gtr which you have so eloquently stated you are unfamiliar with. I was specifically comparing the turbo s, bugatti, and the gtr; the ones in the video. If you really want to discuss the "air dynamics" in regards to the gtr and a ninja then go to that video and leave all the comments you want. Have fun!

The last time this feat was achieved was 10 years ago by Nismo Skyline GT-R racing under the same number 23. Despite the weight handicap, it did in fact become the champion in this 2008 season through the Xanavi Nismo GT-R driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Benoit Treluyer, as well as winning 8 out of 9 races driven by 4 different teams using GT-Rs. The GT500 version scored 4 victories in the 2009 Japanese SUPER GT Series GT 500 class.

The Alphas are custom cars. GTR better be careful. Because one day Bugatti is like a sleeping giant and will one day come out with a 2500HP beast and start crushing GTR skulls. The Veyron never was built for 0-60 or even 1/4 races. It was built to be the most stable and fastest production car. Take it to a two mile strip. The reason there aren't custom jobs for the Veyron is because it's so bad ass right off the showroom floor. No need to customize it. The GTR, not so much. And the Veyron is so expensive, only the most rich can afford one.

EeeScape Phoenix Tunned GTR (AMS, Switzer etc...) is much better (faster in drag race, faster on track and much, much cheaper) than Veyron, Deal with it!!! You can take this GTR and race it whatever Veyron you want, whatever distance you want and GTR will beat it in every parameter. Again: DEAL WITH IT!!!!

dato666 Unfortunately, the GT-R modded just becomes tons more unreliable. As it is, the GT-R is just a heavily modified, turboed datsun(not saying it is bad). The Veyron is also huge and is solely aimed at going in a straight line with no driving feel. The Agera R beats them all

dato666 Wow. I just read your comment and didn't have time to read it all until now. First of all, you can't say, "faster" when the custom GTRs are NOT faster. They beat the Veyron on the quarter mile (so do WRX and Evos and drag Mustangs for less money than the custom GTRs, so what?). Some other races were done on the 1 mile strip, but even in these cases they aren't pushing the cars to their top speed limits like the Veyron has done. "whatever distance you want and GTR will beat it in every parameter" Bullshit! The Switzer reached 249MPH. That's not faster than the original Veyron@ 253.81 mph. The Super Sport Veyron reached 267.856 mph and is the new top speed for the Veyron class. You'll even see a story in the link you provided for the Ford GT's world record at 283.232mph. These super street cars are specifically built for top speed. As in FASTEST, not quickest in quarter mile or one mile tracks. So it is you that needs to "DEAL WITH IT." The GTRs base price starts at 100k so of course you'll have more room for the tuners to use it as a base platform and it's much easier than having a few million dollars to "tune." The Veyron and Ford GT, not so much. Those cars are pushing the limits of aerodynamics and are very expensive because of this. These are different type of cars designed for different performance purposes.

On paper the gtr has the faster 0-60 time but from all the 911 turbo S video I have seen, it beats the gtr. Bring on the GTR NISMO and lets see what the 911 GT2/ GT2 RS can do in comparison. See what I did there? I did not assume that either car will win. What you did was making an assumption based on number Nissan gave out and without even seeing the car in any video yet. :)

Kit car does not necessarily need own assembling, here it means any car have not passed the mandated standard test to qualify as production car. Venom GT on its own is not a production car because Hennessey registered it as the already approved Lotus Exige to avoid registration as kit car.

It's called the 2 second club. At the time of the video. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Corvettes or any other production car can't get a sub 3 second 0 to 60 time. That's why it belongs. Even your hypothetical mustang with 1000 hp probably wouldn't get a sub 3 second 0 to 60 time. It would just sit there and spin it's tires. I bet you've never even driven a GTR.

It's called the two second club. These cars are not racing against one another. At this time these was the only 3 production cars stock that could do 0 to 60 before 3 seconds. Now there is 3 other cars that has joined the club. Laferrari P1 and 918. Since this video the Turbo S and GTR has gotten faster. But stock vs stock there is no GTR that can beat a Turbo S. It's a very close race but the Turbo S gets off the line and pulls harder than the nismo GTR. Around a track the GTR nismo has it no discussion.

wow, awesome work bringing these three cars together and testing them so unbiasedly =D The GTR is such a bang for buck vehicle isnt it ?! Whilst heavier and much less torque:weight ratio the Veyron just oozes power you cannot deny =) I cannot help but feel Porsche 'made sure' their car was going to beat GTR this year..not that there is anything wrong with that.

Indeed, there are some tires that are designed to handle high velocities on certain types of vehicles, such as dragsters, funny cars, and aircraft. But in the case of high speed runs lasting more than a 1/4 mile or so the materials in the tire builds up tremendous heat and will only retain their integrity for a short period of time. With the Bugatti, that time period exceeds the tolerance of many performance tires. Therefore the engineers must choose wisely.

One problem with that reasoning, SSC Aero is not approved as production car because it never went to the mandatory emission standard or test so it registered as kit-car. That particular model used for the record (invalided for a long time) ran on racing fuel. The rest will never fully replicate that performance

Just for fun, and to keep up with the latest from Bugatti, read the specs on the new "Super Veyron" that they are currently working on. It has been upgraded to 1,600 hp, turns 0-60 in 1.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 288 mph. Those speed numbers put it in a category just behind some top fuel machines. Their main impediment at this time is, as always with any super fast car, finding tires that will safely match the performance of what the pros are calling: "The ultimate pavement ripper."

Ray G Laferrari is 0-186mph in 15 seconds, so of the three the LaFerrari would win. And the P1 would be second which has 0-186mph in 16.5 seconds. So if there was a race between them, Porsche wins start, and after 100mph the LaFerrari will surge past, and the P1 behind it.

So the Big Fat Bugatti costing over a 1.5 million or more gets to 60 a few tenths of a second faster than the Porsche which you can drive everyday? BTW the Turbo S has been clocked at 2.5 over and over depending on conditions.

The Acura NSX can only just barely hit 2.9 to 3.0 seconds on perfect launch conditions in 0-60 even with the new advanced hybrid SH-AWD drive train. Unfortunately, I think Acura went a bit too far with the 2016 NSX in making a comfortable exotic everyday super car with expensive heavy paint and amenities, instead of engineering for pure performance with lighter weight materials. If looking for a performance bargain, the Nissan GT-R nismo has the Acura NSX beat.

Bugatti has one complex in France which is relit key new it's called the artists workshop the parts are designed, engineered and constructed in Germany than individually shipped to the workshop in France where they begin the one week process if assembling the parts. Also Lamborghini is also owned by the Volkswagen Group but wouldn't you still consider them an Italian company?

The awd system isn't the only reason the R35 is so quick. The awd plus aero plus the amazingly designed and tuned engine is why. The corvette and viper still wont beat a R35.
