+lin2k4 A better question is "Why did they not use the GTR's launch control?". PS this race is literally a lie. The 2010 GTR goes the 1/4 mile in 11.6s and the LFA goes the 1/4 mile in 11.7s. They most likely turned off the launch control in the GTR to have it win.

Price aside the LFA is a much better car. People of course will argue of the cost difference between the two cars. This was not the intent of Toyota when building the LFA. They infact don't make money from selling the 500 LFA's they built by hand. This is purely a flagship car and an engineering marvel. Just enjoy it, because many car manufacturers simply do not attempt or execute this type of perfection very often!

lol @ people butthurt bout the GT-R losing to the LFA... The LFA was never meant for drag racing, it was meant to be a supercar with a statement. Only 500 were built and it justifies its pricetag because of its unique and elegant design along with power. The GT-R on the other hand is indeed a great car, but its just one of the normal fast cars out there these days... Both cars market to different customers, so you hardly can compare the two. If I wanted to race on the track, I would probably get a GT-R Nismo. If I wanted to attend a ball or drive around Malibu, I would chose the LFA.

Current GTR Premium will wipe the floor with it, the 1/4 mile times for both the LFA and LC500 is sad. Even so Gtr has track edition and Nismo. I owned many Lexus in the past, they are great looking cars but very slow compared to the same class.

People... The bottom line is, rich people who want something unique and fast will get an LFA, and probably won't care if a tuner beats them once in a blue moon. And a well-off tuner will get a GT-R because it's up their alley, and probably won't care if a $400,000 supercar beats them, once in a blue moon. They're two different cars for two different markets, two different kinds of people. If Infiniti decides to make a supercar, then sure, stack it up against the LFA. But the two types of people buying these two cars really don't care about what the other is doing. Crucifying each other over specs and opinions for cars most of us will never own is stupid and childish. Live and let live

All these people complaining that the LFA is so expensive, costing 320.000 pounds new. But the people who bought one are actually very clever. Now, just four years after its introduction, secondhand LFAs go for half a million quid, and that price is bound to skyrocket within a few years. That's the advantage of a highly praised car, of which only 500 are going to be built; it's a fantastic investment. Note that, as a replier pointed out, this does not apply in America. They will have to wait until the LF-A is officially a classic car.

The LFA is a beautifully balanced supercar with stunning looks, a quality interior, and an engine note that sends chills down people's spines. A Tesla is not even in the same realm as a titan like the LFA. The Tesla may be one of the quickest cars, but the LFA is the faster car. People mix quickness up with fastness way too often. Quickness is how fast a car gets up to speed, fastness is what a car can achieve on its top speed. The Tesla is indeed quicker, but the LFA in the end will still walk on past it all the way to over 200 mph while the Tesla loses steam at 170ish.

Cody Bowser They do some sort of drag racing/car show event near my house at the Floyd Bennett Airfield every few months so I see a lot of supercars and rare classics driving by my neighborhood. I've seen the Ferrari Enzo, Aventador, Porsche Carrera GT, R8 GT, a ton of GTR's, and a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder (rarest car I've ever seen but could have been a replica) just to name a few. I have yet to see an LFA. That alone shows you why the car is worth what it is.

The sound of the V10 near redline makes the hairs on the back of your neck pay attention! Probably the best sounding exhaust note in any supercar with perhaps the exception of the Porsche GT!

Much like what the Hellcat was for American cars,the LFA was a gamechanger for Lexus. After her debut,people started looking at the brand much,much more closely 😳as a serious contender for build excellent performance vehicles,rather than another luxury brand that built reliable,if unspeakably dull,cars. Frankly,it would not surprise me if a LFA could go the million-mile mark without losing its edge.

Cool cars. But some things that I don't like about the gtr is how it looks. It does not look like a sports car and looks like a tank. And the other thing is how quiet it is compared to other supercars. But overall they are impressive cars.

Trent Mclellan I love GTR but if you knew anything about it, you'd know that 2.7 seconds 0-60 can only be done a few times before the tranny breaks. You can't be using launch control in every race. I doubt that they used launch control in this race, which explains the 3.5 seconds. LFA looks, sounds, and in just about every way is better than GTR. It doesn't even compete with GTR. It's way out of GTR's league. It's not over priced. Any super car that has limited production will cost that much.

I honestly hold both of these examples in the highest echelon of car making and to us car enthusiasts as the best in their segments, one for collecting(LFA kept new is fetching a million plus) and one for daily driving as I still see 1st gen on road, both are supreme.

LFA is exclusive and will appreciate in price. So it's an investment. A GTR depreciates. The argument is literally like this. Should I get the bigger steak aka Nissan GTR. Or the more expensive better tasting but smaller steak aka LFA. A rich person doesn't care about a GTR because everyone has one. Especially in California. Why not be different and get something special ? Every journalist knows the LFA is spectacular. Every keyboard warrior needs to realize you can't compare the two cars. They weren't made to compete with each other.

1/4 mile times aren't the deal breaker for any car let alone a Supercar. The technology, design and engineering that went onto the LFA is far superior to the Nissan. The GT-R is not a super car for those reasons, not it's speed capabilities. I would love to own a GT-R but if I had the money to spend upwards of $400k on a car, I would choose the LFA even it it was slower than the GT-R. Pretty sure you can make any Mustang or Camaro a better 1/4 mile and 0-60 car if you wanted to spend enough but it still won't be a Supercar or anywhere near as cool as an LFA, Ford GT, NSX, or top end Aston Martin and those who think so are just trying to justify thriftyness and value for the sake of simple speed. Ever been in a GT-R? It feels plasticity and cheap like a typical Nissan. It's fast, but that's about all it is really. Even if the LFA didn't move, it would still be worth more than a GT-R. Nothing about a true Supercar is value oriented. Shit, the sound of the LFA alone is worth $100k to anyone who's qualified financially to afford it.
