Will claim with or without a solicitor. On the back of this I will get some £, happy I worked for them in the end for 2 years and 5 months even though it was a massive hassle. Can't wait to call citizens advice tomorrow for advice on how to pursue my claim yaaay

This is a very damaging case for gig economy workers. The legal team that brought this case have clearly not considered the long term effects of this. As the QC said, you can have more than one employer. True, but you can't work for 2 separate employers during the same hours on PAYE (as far as I know). That means where drivers are currently able to multi-app and take the work according to what is best for their situation/location (which can be quite lucrative), this could mean they would have to sit on minimum wage for the one company and do as many jobs as they are told. Not a positive outcome.

Agreed, l belong to GMB London drivers union, who brought this to court over 4 years, it is a ridiculous case. What the hell is 'worker' status? The Uber and private hire companies cannot operate financially with this ruling. The drivers still have the vehicle finance and insurance, repairs, so what advantage is this case?!

Mr B Long story...but as drivers they work whenever they want, as long as they want!!! Once they demand minimum wage/holiday/sick pay...wages for other drivers will plunge!!! UBER is not for full time self-employment till retirement...unless U R savy with money!!!
