As someone who taught classes as a graduate student at another university, because many of us are teaching for the first time so we are more passionate about the material (of course there are some great professors who maintain that same level of passion; your results may vary in a research heavy institution like uc Davis). So don’t fear TA lead classes

I didn't apply to Davis but I'm going to ucla this fall. I didn't apply since I'm from socal, but it seems like such a chill school, which I would LOVE. Either way, I'm so grateful I'm even going to a top university!

Who would I go to if I wanted to switch my major/schedule an advisor meeting? Are there any problems or roadblocks I should be prepared to come across when switching my major, or is UC Davis open to changing majors with no complications? Should I take classes that are prerequisites to the major I want to switch into in my first year? Are students required to take classes for the major they applied for and were admitted under in the first year? In contrast could I take classes for the major I plan to switch into in my first year before making the change in major official? What if I don't take any classes that complete requirements for my preplanned major? Does your major affect the classes you can take/have to take in your freshman year? What year would be best to schedule an advisor meeting to change your major? Freshman or Sophomore? I guess my underlying questions is: exactly how flexible and open are UC Davis' counselors and advisors to changing my major? I am kind of stressed about this and I would really appreciate any answers you can give me Alex. Thank you so much for this informative video. I subscribed!

@@craving2create where can I see the required classes for switching into majors? I assume these requirements are different than the requirements of the entire major.

0:27 this is misleading. You can ask for a double for example but that doesn’t mean you’ll get it. Personally I asked for a double and got a triple so basically no you can’t choose only request.

What classes should you take as a freshman?

RdanielC 2002 I guess it depends on your major, but for a pretty easy General Ed course, I recommend CLA 30- Word Roots!

@@carmina1193 what if you were accepted as undeclared ? If you have a major in mind, should you take classes about that major? And when would it be a good time to declare you major? Hope you can help me with this 😅
@carmina11934 жыл бұрын
RdanielC 2002 hi! What major do you have in mind? I know that some classes may be restricted to only those with that major but not all. I’m currently a BioSci major and rn I’m really just taking the basic general courses (like intro bio, chem, and calculus) that many other stem majors take. I haven’t really taken any “specific” classes pertaining to my major yet as I believe those are upper div. I’m still a first-year so still learning how to go about classes! As for Gen Ed, you can explore various subjects that can help you satisfy the GE units you need. Also, I don’t believe you need to declare a major by a certain time. I’ve heard that it’s not too difficult to switch unless you may be switching from say a humanities major to stem cause... completely different content!
