Thought I'd put together all the evidence. At a certain point we have to see that Aspinall, Blaydes and Pavlovich are all lining up to fight each other and Gane hasn't fought any of them. We don't hear Blaydes or Aspinall calling out any other heavyweights for ducking other than Gane. Then there's the interview in this video where Gane literally admits to planning on waiting out for the winning of Jones vs Miocic after beating Spivak last year. Gotta be a punishment for this.

Ciryl completely relies on his talent, whereas Tom has ALMOST if not the same amount of talent that ciryl gane has but on top of that Tom actually has discipline and is hard working, and most importantly, he is hungry and obsessed with fighting, or would drawn be the more suitable word? Let's just say Tom is more drawn to fighting than gane is. I feel like ciryl gane grew up in an athletic big body and was like "Welp, I'm pretty athletic, I guess mma would earn me good money" and just decided to pick up the fight game as his job while having no passion for fighting.

As a frenchman who may understand a bit better through the lack of language barrier. Honestly i think the UFC for Gane is a job and a hobby at the same time. Not his life. In the way he talks in french and what he says about the sport, it feels like he loves MMA, loves Combat sports but loves his family and friends even more, AKA, he doesn't live for MMA. He just happens to be very good at it and appreciate it at the same time. I don't feel the same motivation as some other fighters to become legends of the sport. To be fair, can you really blame him ? If he has this perspective on the sport, taking more risks than needed for his health in order to reach the top is indeed careless, he is not the type of fighter that want to fight everybody. he looks like the type of guy that just want to see the top once and then leave with a nice career behind him and focus on his other activities. Does he have the star champion potential with his personality ? I don't think so. Does he have the potential to become champion with his skills ? Sure. But that's not him being scared either. The way he says it, it's clear that he's just conscious that at this level of MMA in the heavy weight division, each fight can take you years of your life away. He's a very humane, friendly and appreciable guy. But that's not the type of people MMA Fans want to see and that's understandable.

Gane tapped to a standing guillotine against Jon Jones that wasn't even sunk in. Do you know who tap's out to uncomfortable cranks? Whitebelts, and that is accepted and normal because it's painful and uncomfortable. But as soon as you reach bluebelt you shouldn't tap to these cranks anymore. Gane was completely overwhelmed by Jon Jones and gave up the first chance he got. He should fight at least 3 times before getting another shot at the belt. For fairness and for his confidence, too.

(I'm french, over 50, into martial arts since I was 10) When Cyril Gane "fought" Jon Jones, I was ashamed BEFORE the fight. The guy was fighting the biggest name in UFC history, and most images of his camp were him playing fifa on playstation, lightly sparing with his second hand coach, showing zero motivation or hunger, bragging about mma being a kind of late hobby for him, while his opponent, the goat of ufc history, was training his a.. off like a killer. Totally inverted roles. Gane is a good kick boxer, fast for his frame, and that's it. Jons schooled § ridiculised him for 124 seconds, now he’s ducking the whole division, § makes no sense explaining himself both in French or English. wtf!
