Sports in both the US and UK are racially diverse and have been for awhile so I think most Americans and Brits don't really think of athletes in terms of race. For team sports it all comes down to which team the athlete is on. For things like the Olympics it's what country they're representing and for MMA it's their fighting style and personality. All things being equal I'd root for a black American over a white European any day.
