Daily reminder that the Solar Auxilia were NOT the common soldiery, that would be the Imperial Army, the predecessor to the Guard/Astra Militarum. The Solar Auxilia were the most elite soldiers from the Army given extra training and fancy gear, they're more comparable to the Stormtroopers/Tempestus Scions in modern 40k.

@@RoseKindred 1) The regular flashlight of 40k basically murders everything that isn’t heavily armoured or extremely tough, even Orks are far, far from immune to lasfire 2) Solar auxilia uses beefy weapons : better lasguns, volkites (aka BETTER LASGUN), plasma etc) 3) Tempestus Scions are basically bruce waynes in space (without the plot armour, plot brain or funny bat disguises) forming special forces corps… Wel, Auxilia are basically this but in much greater numbers as shock troops

I mean honestly, the Emperor is almost a 1-1 match with Paul Atreides, if we consider the massive worm just another iteration. Heads a Great Crusade/Jihad, has extreme psychic powers which he uses to see the optimal outcome of human kind's future, is ancient and revered, becomes something completely inhuman over time.

In one of the Tau books, the fire warriors were fighting a human world with basically space confederates with steampunk walkers. It's a very interesting book with a unique human regiment. This makes me think of that.

nobody's calling it a dreadnought because it isn't one, it's a sentinel which is a walker. dreadnoughts have astartes interred within them, sentinels have pilots

Erm ackshully 🤓☝️during the early editions, ‘Dreadnought’ just referred to any large walker-type vehicle with a dude inside it, and Orks and Eldar also had them. Since these are 30k units, referring to any large man-interred gizmo as a Dreadnought is perfectly accurate Source: I made it up

@@DreadAnon Erm, ackshully ackshully... Those walker-type vehicles literally have Orks or Gretchin fused into them, and the Eldar has a dude's soul inside of it. Both of those are essentially dreads. The sentinels, unless there's major structural damage, homeboy can get out.

I think I would've liked the design more if the missile pods and main guns were to switch locations and numbers. Though maybe move up the main guns a bit to attached to the exterior part of the swivel joint so they can shoot downwards enough to be hitting the ground at their feet.
