My partner and i quit our jobs and traveled last year. Nothing prepares you for the 6 months of sadness upon your return. Cannot wait to go again.

After 35 years in consultancy (including 20 running my own business) I feel like I have just woken up to a few ‘life lessons’. Only recently discovered your channel and all I can say is well done and keep going! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences as they are helping.

Your talk is not negative. It's just a bunch of things put together and they're the learning curves and the how to's to minimises negative occurrences that may occur next time. I enjoyed watching it!

I quit medicine as well and really felt those existential questions to my core. Even though I was travelling and so on, my mind was running on its own. I dove into philosophy to keep my thinking logical. Whatever begins to exist has a cause and by definition is contingent , the universe began to exist therefore universe has a cause and by definition is contingent. Everything that exists is contingent or necessary, continent beings exist, a series of contingent beings cannot regress infinitely, therefore there must be a necessary being that explains the existence of all contingent beings, a necessary being would therefore be self existent, eternal and cause of all things, that’s called god. neccesary being explains all continent reality possessing sufficient power to sustain and order contingent reality, there is no external limit on the necessary being as if there was a limit placed by an external force it would take priority over the ‘neccesary being’, it is simpler and explanatory for the necessary being to have infinite power than to impose an arbitrary limit or threshold, there’s no rational basis to impose any limit, therefore this neccesary being must be all powerful because any limitation would imply contingency, contradicting its nature as the ultimaye source of existence. The necessary being is the source of all moral truths, which must be grounded in its nature. Goodness reflects perfection, and a necessary being must embody maximal perfection. A morally neutral or maximally bad necessary being is incoherent: a maximally bad being would seek destruction or chaos, which contradicts the observed order and flourishing in the universe, while a morally neutral being would render moral truths arbitrary and purposeless. The necessary being, as the creator of all contingent realities, acts with intention and purpose, and purpose aligns with goodness, reflecting order and flourishing rather than harm or chaos. Therefore, the necessary being must be all-good because goodness aligns with perfection, purpose, and the grounding of objective morality. So the argument on the basis of the above premises is as follows: Contingent realities exist, and their existence requires an explanation. This leads to the conclusion that a necessary being exists as the ultimate explanation for all contingent realities. The necessary being must be self-sufficient, existing independently of any external causes, as any dependency would contradict its necessary nature. Furthermore, the necessary being must be unlimited in power because any limitation would imply contingency, requiring an external force to impose or justify that limitation. Such a being must also act intentionally, reflecting intelligence and purpose, as its existence is not arbitrary but the source of order and intelligibility in the universe. Goodness reflects perfection, and a necessary being must embody maximal perfection, as any deviation from perfection would imply deficiency or contingency. Acting with purpose inherently aligns with goodness, as badness or neutrality contradict the intention, order, and flourishing evident in creation. Therefore, the necessary being must be all-powerful, to account for the existence and order of all contingent realities, and all-good, to reflect moral perfection and ground objective morality. Basically I found meaning in god and in a society that champions busyness and materialism I’m seen as sensitive, unfit and an outcast. Even if I try showing the deductive proofs there’s no use unfortunately. Peace and love.

9:50 so true about roosters. Currently in Panglao Philippines, so much rooster noise and other animals (including gecko) through out the night. So true about air pollution.. lots of people burn garbage and it’s very hard to breathe. Lots of stray dogs that are abused and malnourished … so sad to see. It’s not all the romanticism on KZbin influencer videos

South east Asia sadly has what's known as a smut cloud seen from space, from the awful pollution along with the continued burning of the forests (and illegal but no way enforced,) logging and just burning for palm oil production. Palm oil's in everything.

You are lucky. It took me almost 30 years (21 years in medicine) to realize that I want to escape this running wheel. With beeing responsible for my children I needed more security. And growing up in a socialistic country it took me quite a while to realize what are the values of life. Now I am totally sure that you have chosen exactly the right way of life.

Not a hater! In fact, I know I'd enjoy having you and your partner as friends. But the truth is, if I'm in a medical crisis and need a doctor, I won't choose one who's been away for a year. I'm sure you'll get back up to speed quickly upon your return -- when/if you do return -- but obviously you will not be current and will need to catch up. That's just common sense.

I agree! Of course depends what doctor you’re going for. You probably wouldn’t want your open heart surgery done my someone who’s just had a year off 😂. As a junior hospital doctor all your decisions are (usually) run past a consultant anyway
