I can't get over how *TERRIBLE* the audio is in shane's "documentaries". Half the time the audio isn't clear because it's windy or echo-y and shane REFUSES to buy a microphone despite being a multi-millionaire. You can always hear the cranking of the lens because the cameramen he hires are always messing with the camera while people are speaking. The people mumble instead of speaking clearly, and then shane adds really loud background music, which makes things unintelligible.. it's truly SO BAD! I can't believe we used to think he was a good "documentarian". 🥴

As a graphic designer I’m not surprised Shane didn’t like any of the artwork. Saying you want a design with triangles and spirals is way too broad, and what Shane envisions that to mean can be interpreted way differently by the artist. I wish there was a one on one meeting with the designer and Shane where she could ask more in depth questions, like what fonts or layouts he’s thinking of. Also I think Shane needs to understand that while him and Jeff have different styles, Shane’s palette is being made by Jeff and the art is going to be more like Jeff’s style. (The logos and stuff)

During the palette samples, I think Jeffree was doing his best to be professional to Anna and Shane. He was reassuring Shane more work can be done while also being complimentary to the designs to maintain his working relationship with Anna and her company. At the end of the day, I truly believe Jeffree isn’t as emotionally invested in these ideas as he claims he is. I think he chooses ideas he knows will sell and that is what made him so successful.

I really wish the whole talking with Morgan about the pressures she was facing coming into the influencer lifestyle was a separate video cause it was genuinely a really good message and a topic that needed full attention, not to be cut up between shots of them sorting out the launch. Morgan was always pretty relatable and a big part of that was how vulnerable she always was with her insecurities, and an open conversation with her about that would’ve been a great thing and it feels like it was just used as another “emotional moment” for the series

34:24 hi adam! I actually used to work in product design, specifically in prototyping and Industrial design. So what Jeff is saying here about this is a skeleton, this is just a temporary piece. the little bit of the graphics looking very cheap quality is something you excuse. when it's a prototype that you're playing with and tweaking, you're not even sure if you're going to go that direction. We would make a lot of samples, and with time crunches, I would end up writing the logos on myself or like printing them off of the computer and gluing them on. Sometimes you get an idea an hour before the meeting and you just want to get it real life. To be able to show it! so you grab something and you start gluing things together. You just want to get something in the guests hands. then you can see if they even want to continue with the design anyways, like with the locking mechanism. There's no point in figuring it out if they don't even go further with that design.

It's crazy to me that Shane uploaded this and calls it a "documentary" when it's literally just a vlog. The parts in his "documentaries" where he goes into montage mode with loud, overwhelming music is a classic vlog move. If he wanted to make these feel like a genuine documentary, he'd cut out all the nonsense of him going to the gym and whatever "wacky shenanigans" him and Jeffree get up to and focus on the facts behind production, formulation, and distribution. This is less about "the beauty world" and more about Shane's weekly life.

i think in regards of the pallete design showings its pretty obvious that Shane doesn't like it. But, in defense for Anna.. the idea is the black and white spiral and i don't think (correct me if i'm wrong) there are further elaborations so, she has to use that for the base design. Also i don't think Jeffree and the other team want to create a scene as it might look bad on them and of course unprofessional. I also think Jeffree just wants to hear out Shane because, during the meeting he kept looking and are giving signals to hear him out hence why he doesn't give a lot of opinions. Also obviously some parts are cut and knowing that later on Andrew is the one designing the pallete its possible that in that meeting the designs were rejected or put on hold in order for them to do a redesign also Adam the pallete that locks, that wasn't a finished design.. its just the skeleton with a makeshift label to give a general idea and to propose the skeleton imo

It’s really clear if you listen to the first episode where they pitch designs and then in the clips where they look at base shapes that Shane was all over the place with his design ideas. In the part with looking at shapes he mentions the lifted spiral which they eventually did. I don’t believe that the final design had no input from the design team.

I think we also really need to be talking about how Andrew was also very much aware of everything that went on behind the scenes. He may not have been an active participant, but he was there cackling along the entire time. I mean it was obviously the right move to distance himself publicly from Shane but the more I think about the fact that he never (to my knowledge) addressed anything, I dunno, feels pretty shady to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think there needs to be any hate campaigns, but I don’t think it is too much to ask that he should also be scrutinized for any roles he may have also played (even if it was just as a supporting character)

Honestly, yeah. It just depends on if he was laughing along to just kinda get things over with, or if he genuinely was in on it too. Because for all we know, he could've felt obligated or felt it was necessary (probably for financial reasons) to keep this gig until he was stable enough to leave. People do feign support whenever it's necessary. Morality aside, it's a very common thing.

I honestly find it really hard to believe any of the drama in this series wasn't just fabricated from the beginning. The whole burglary thing is obvious, but even the whole part where Shane isn't liking any of the initial packaging designs. Sure it could be real, but obvioysly things not going perfectly makes for a better series (which is saying something considering this whole series is STILL boring AF 😑).
