Another z-biotic sponsor - really? it's disgusting that you would leverage you education to take advantage of your audience like this. Do you not make enough money with your huge house and own product? You can afford to be picky. Not only is it a scam product, but your audience who are made up of people who are recovering from EDs, are uniquely susceptible to alcholism... so what sell a product that is designed to make drinking to excess easier (it doesn't actually, since it's a scam, but if it did work, I would still say you should be ashamed of yourself).

If anyones down that bad with alcohol then sobreity should be the main concern! Also there isn't any cure for hangovers, it's just misguided! Also trust me I have tried them all and it never worked the only thing that worked was sobreity.

@@UniqueCommentary247 OK I see where you are coming from. However as someone getting older who enjoys a drink, I used these on a food and wine festival vacation to prevent hangovers (in conjunction with lots of water/hydration) from dampening the vacation and it was a great extra layer of protection on a fun trip. I don't usually drink that much and I can't remember my last hang over (its been at least 2 years since I had one) but for preventing one on my trip I was glad to have them.

To Ginger: Directly because of you and your open, honest, vulnerable, optimistic journey, on display for the world to witness, my heart and head were set "right" about the benefits of GLP-1 medications. So when my doctor recommended them to me, I did not hesitate. I had followed your journey and I knew the benefits FAR outweighed the side effects. You are amazing, and you helped me - some random stranger in the world - immediately improve the quality of my life. I was wondering what had happened to Ginger and appreciate that she agreed to one last update. So sorry (but not surprised) to hear about her experience with hate comments. Ugh. Just wanted her to know that her story was really helpful to many more people than she might realize. As for me, I'm not taking a GLP agonist for a bunch of reasons but hearing Ginger talk about "food noise" was a total lightbulb moment for me. That's *exactly* what I have struggled with for my entire adult life. My brain thinks about food alllllll the time, whether I'm hungry or not. It isn't "cravings". It's just the monkeys in my head talking about food...making grocery lists, thinking about meals, looking for recipes online, watching cooking shows....all of it. After having that "aha" moment, I've been recognizing that food noise and learning how to direct it toward more helpful activities. I've been doing this for 7 months now and I lost 40 pounds without needing medication. I'm just training my food monkeys to help me.

I have told very few people I take Ozempic. One person that I did share to, told me that I shouldn't take it since I wasn't losing weight any faster than without it. I have lost 60lbs in one year. I have never stayed on a weight loss program this long, or lost this much weight, so it is helping, and I decided that this person is not someone I should share my weight loss journey with. I don't know why people, who know nothing about me, feel the need to comment on my needs. This person yoyos in wide weight loss/gain swings, so I don't know why my program is so bad.

Ginger, the videos you and Abbey made helped me feel safe in talking to my doctor about taking GLP-1s. It's been the best decision I could have made. The day after I started taking the drug, my life long addiction to soda was gone and I was finally able to drop it completely. My inflammation disappeared within a week and I feel so much better than I did before I started taking it. I have Hashimoto's and I could not lose weight to save my life. I gained it so easily though. I needed to lose somewhere around 100 lbs by the time I finally realized I couldn't lose it without help. I think we need to normalize needing help to lose weight. It's really hard and not everyone's body reacts the way someone else's may to a calorie deficit and exercise. There are so many reasons someone might struggle to lose weight on their own that we should never shame someone for wanting help. Abbey, your diet suggestions have helped immensely and seeing you comment on Ginger's diet gave me some great advice for improving my own. These videos have been so helpful to me so I sincerely thank you for putting yourselves out there. You are helping more people than you know.

I'm sorry Ginger experienced mean comments. I'm glad that her Ozempic journey is working out for her. Personally, I still don't trust these drugs, because it doesn't feel that they've been tested on a long enough time frame for a drug that patients will have to take forever. Also 13% of Americans at 1000 per month... This is why patents on drugs should not exist. Cause this is going to do quite a number on health insurance costs. Finally, emotionally, the saturation with Ozempic just makes me feel like we're going back to a world where being fat is demonized. I lived through the early 2000s, and I'm kinda terrified.

Agree, the drugs have not been tested long enough. 5 years is not enough. Case in point, many of these people now on ozempic or wegovy are the same people who were anti v*xxers during that particular era, shouting on about the vaccines having no long term research and not wanting chemicals in their body. Can we please see whether ozempic forcing the human stomach to slowly and sluggishly empty itself over and over again, has any long term issues?

Not to mention that 'Ozempic Rebound' is a real thing and a high proportion of people on these drugs end up regaining weight after two years, just like every other diet. Ozempic doesn't treat obesity and it only works while you are on it. You have to address the underlying causes to keep the weight off.

Just watched the remainder of the video and I also got sober from a daily decade long marijuana/dab dependence & sober from alcohol (never was really as problem for me though), the same week I began Wegovy. I went into a mental health program and that was one of the requirements. Surprisingly, it was pretty easy. I was shocked. I had very few cravings for substances, even marijuana. Like virtually none, even within 24-48 hours of quitting, which had never happened. All of my cravings were behavioral. I truly believe I was like the perfect candidate for that study because my THC levels were SO high for almost 2 months via urine screens yet I had zero desire to smoke or drink meanwhile everyone else in my group had substance cravings and I was the only person on a GLP-1. I also was able to quit a 20+ year Diet Coke addiction the same week. Like HOW does that happen?! My anxiety & depression did improve and I attributed that to the success of the program and starting Wellbutrin but maybe Wegovy was more helpful with my mental health than I realized. As for curbing addiction though, it was a lifesaver!!!

Yay, Ginger for keeping the great “f that shit” spirit and claiming your own body, voice, and space! All love, cheers, and support on your continuing journey, wherever you steer it. Putting on my public health hat for a moment: I have not read the studies regarding mental health and glp-1 use, but I will say that, like there seems to be no causal association with poorer mental health, it is very likely that people with diabetes who pursue glp-1 treatment have less depression and anxiety going in. In other words, the study group is naturally skewed that way because depression and anxiety both can cause intertia in seeking health care and taking action in other areas. There would need to be a comparison group that is a very close match to the treatment group to make sure that association is real. Ok, back to cheering everybody in the bodies where they live. You are loved and deserving of all good things. ❤

I’m sorry Ginger had to deal with all the hate. However, I do not like how you’re somewhat blaming part of your audience for Ginger changing her medication. That was her choice and I don’t think it’s fair to blame others for making a choice because you have let yourself be influenced by their opinions. I don’t mean this in a rude way, I have empathy for Ginger and I understand that it is easier said than done do do what you think is right, no matter what others say. But in the end, it is still our choice if we want strangers on the internet or even friends and family have so much control over OUR lives and OUR decisions. And if we cannot deal with what strangers have to say about us on the internet it is probably wise to step away from it for our own sake because there will always be differing opinions and criticism and, unfortunately, there will always be people who are downright mean. So I completely understand that Ginger wanted to take a step back for her own sake. Wish you all the best, Ginger!

Thank you and YES, this is exactly why I'm stepping away. When I was putting off doing another video because I was thinking omg - people are going to come at me again for using Ozempic - I was stressed to the max. So I switched as soon as Wegovy became available in Canada. I could say that when I asked my doctor about it in the first place, I asked for Wegovy way back when, but it wasn't available. And the feedback really really affected me to make the change. And as soon as I realized that I knew that it was time for me to step back from talking about it so publicly.

I don’t see it as a bad thing. I’ve read somewhere that in the near future even better versions are coming out. I can see how maybe people with EDs could be triggered. I know for me personally, whenever I have a conversation with someone on the drug, they usually say something to the effect of “yeah so I am super nauseous and throw up everyday but I’m losing weight so I love this drug it really works!” And that usually does induce the feeling of wanting to jump off a briiiiiiddddgggeee. :) but like, I ain’t mad. I’m happy for you, absolutely. Do your thing. I just understand where other people may become inflamed about it lol.

This is what keeps me from trying the medication which has been recommended by 2 independent health care providers. I am not diabetic but I am overweight. I do not have a history of purging but I don’t want to have nausea and vomiting - that’s what happened through my 2 pregnancies! My kids were well worth it but I’m not signing up for that for the rest of my life.

How do people tolerate the constant nausea and vomiting with the drug and still go to work and fulfill their obligations? I can go to work with a fever or with Covid, but the second I get nausea I literally can’t get out of bed. I’ve been sick for the last 3 weeks and get nauseous if I eat anything before noon so I literally refuse to eat anything until after work because I absolutely cannot tolerate or function if I’m nauseous. And I refuse to ever get pregnant because of the chance of morning sickness for 9 months. Yet people sign up for this for life with this drug and manage to function fine. Am I really just that much of a pussy when it comes to nausea, lol? 😅

@@Gnv-q2m I am on Mounjaro and have never had even one second of nausea. Semaglutide Ozempic/Wegovy) has a much higher percentage of people with constant nausea than those on tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound). Even titrating up, nothing. I am now on 15mg. and have been for almost 9 months now.

@@Fluffylover121Something people have found (and research bears out) is that semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) causes much more nausea than tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound). I have been on GLP-1s since April 2022 (Trulicity for a year, now Mounjaro for over a year) and have never had a second of nausea. The _only_ side effect ever has been some constipation that is fixed with fiber and magnesium supplements. Also, there are medications that can quell nausea very easily. They are prescribed for pregnant and sick folks all the time. I encourage talking to your provider and ask for help with the nausea. You do not need to keep feeling so poorly. Good luck!

I am *SO* sorry- though you didn’t have any idea- I literally scrolled past this at first because I’m conditioned to think that this would be a list of reasons that Ozempic is bad for everyone. I apologize. I even watched the first video with Ginger! But that knee jerk reaction was me automatically thinking it was going to be negative. I LOVED and appreciated Ginger’s comment about splitting the dose between days. I’ve never considered that! I’ll be talking to my PCP to let her know I’ll be trying this! Thank you for this and thank you, Abbey- for always being neutral and understanding of individual needs. ❤❤❤ Btw- I’m on O for T2D and weight loss. But I’ve plateaued due to not being able to take the full dose at once. Ginger’s experience and me using that to try (of course talking with my provider) will hopefully restart my loss. 🎉

I began Wegovy in April at 165. At 5 years post op from bariatric surgery I'd had a 20 pound regain plus reactive hypoglycemia from rapid hypoglycemia. No amount of calorie restriction worked. I was limiting myself to prepackaged protein shakes so I couldn't be accused of lying about what i was eating. I was shamed for being bmi 28 when I was prescribed Wegovy. My insurance will approve at bmi 27 with a comorbidity. For me that was pcos and the hypoglycemia. Since being on it my dietitian has worked with me to get me to a more intuitive eating approach. Calorie counting wasn't working any better than intuitive eating is. I've only lost 15 pounds but only need to lose more 5 more to not be overweight. It's been slow but Wegovy has removed a lot of the guilt and shame around eating since it helps with the pcos metabolic issues.

Ginger -- I've never tried GLP1s, but I did have gastric sleeve surgery in 2020. I had lost 100 lbs, then I gained 110 lbs, then I had the sleeve and lost 120 lbs. And I just INSTINCTIVELY KNEW that I had to keep the whole goddamned thing a secret. The ONLY people who know I had surgery four years ago are my husband, my mother, and my doctors. Not even my brother or my best friend knows. I just don't talk about it EVER. I was fat from the age of 5 and I was simply DONE with other people interacting with my weight, fat, weight loss, diet, exercise, health. I didn't want to hear it. I did it for my health and longevity, and I have ZERO regrets. It's no one else's business. You don't owe anyone an explanation and no one's opinion counts. AT ALL. You are the ONLY one who matters in this equation. I hope you can shake off the negativity and just keep taking care of you!

Ginger, I am so sorry that people are assholes. I am on a GLP-1 journey too! It has been life changing. Not only have I lost about 9% of my body fat so far but my hormones are finally balancing. I still have a ways to go, but not having the food noise constantly going through my head has been what has made the largest positive impact. I love it and feel great. I'm on a low dose, so I pretty much have no negative symptoms. I really do not understand why so many people have such horrible things to say about this. I had insulin resistance and high cholesterol, so I was on my way to diabetes like so many in my family. Having to constantly fight my genetics was becoming a losing battle. Now I have this medication as a support tool and I am finally getting my health under control. Where's the downside to that?

Just wanted to thank Ginger for sharing her story. I've been on wegovy for a few months. I've been very physically active for over a decade but I've always struggled with eating. Along with remaining active and being more aware of what I eat, I've managed to lose some weight and I feel so much better in my body. Also I feel like wegovy has freed me from a food addiction. I'm not as hungry, not as interested in food, heck food doesn't even taste as good. And maybe to some that sounds a little sad, but for me it is so freeing to not be obsessed with food like I have all my life. I've also had very minimal side effects. So for me it was the right choice but I do understand why people are hesitant about GLP-1 medication and that it is not right for everyone. And have to give kudos to Ginger for her bravery because I don't think I would ever openly say online on my personal social media that I am on this medication just due to the backlash. I would also like to add that I have struggled with 'dark' thoughts my whole life and I've had a rough year in 2024. And I have not experienced any of these 'dark' thoughts since starting wegovy.

My problem is that for many years, Abby and others have reviewed "what I ate in a day" videos from certain creators and said that it isn't enough food/calories for a toddler, even if their food choices (or video) had nothing to do with weight or weight loss. Now, with Ozempic, this medication is aiding people in weight loss, which means many times people aren't eating enough calories for a "full-grown adult," as Abby would say. Why is it okay for them to take medication and eat 1,100 calories, but not okay if someone's body functions just fine on 1,100 calories if they are not a naturally hungry person? Some people just don't eat much naturally, and they are vilified for it. But when it's Ozempic, it's acceptable? I don't get it.

Valid assumption. Wrong conclusion. I'm a great example here. Prior to Ozempic - I had constant food noise and was sort of never full. Could eat all the time because I was thinking about food all the time. That's the mental piece that I praise Ozempic/Wegovy for helping me with. I would argue that my calorie consumption used to far exceed the daily limit and now, my caloric intake is "normal" for a person my size. Very rare that I have a sub 1200 calorie day, but because I'm not thinking of food, if I'm particularly busy, I can experience days where I don't eat as much. Abbey has critiqued some of my food choices in past videos if it was not enough. Very loudly, in fact. But the issue with the low cal WIEIAD - is that they are usually paired with a body check or a desire to be thin - the if you want to look like me, do this approach - which is unhealthy for young viewers. Abbey's goal is to help them unpack those WIEIAD videos with the context they need. Hope that helps.

I started on Ozempic because my A1C just started going up in danger pre-diabetic numbers. I've always been on the heavier side as an adult despite the workouts or diet changes I've made or tried or restricted. I'd loose for a second and then it'd be back and I'd be back up in weight. Ozempic has done whatever it does that I'm actually loosing weight and able to keep it off while my A1C is lowering too.

And maybe to offer a different perspective: I think you can be grateful and proud that you could lose the weight on your own. You did it, which is a huge achievement, and you don’t need a medication that comes with side effects. I have nothing against people using weight loss medication if it makes sense for them, but if you can do it without medication you don’t have to deal with the side effects, and that’s a good thing.
