Had the opportunity to visit Kemble this afternoon as it wasn't too much of a detour coming back from Cornwall. It's a fantastic place to spend an hour or so with a massive array of aircraft that are stored or awaiting the scrapper.
The airport is home to an overwhelming amount of Boeing 747's with a fair few new additions courtesy of BA with the latest, G-BYGF arriving a few days prior.
A pretty much complete list of what I saw can be found below:
MK Airlines B747-200F
British Airways B747-400
KLM B747-400
Saudia/Air Atlanta B747-400
Corsair B747-400
Czech/Eurowings A319
AtlasGlobal A320
IndiGo A320
SkyAngkor/Avion Express A320
Jet2 B737-300
Jet2 B757-200
Strong Aviation B727-200
Unknown B727-100
Qatar Airways A320
Qatar Airways A340-600
Jettime B737-700
Turkmenistan B717-200
Plus Ultra A340-300
Aigle Azur A320
Air Italy B737-700
GetJet A320
& A few unidentified aircraft/sections of aircraft

It breaks my heart to see the lineup of 747-400s at Kemble, never to fly again :( Same with the Jet2 757-200s and 737-300s, I grew up seeing them very often at Leeds Bradford, but those days are sadly just about over now.

The fuselage at 7:42 has been purchased by a wealthy businessman (Johnny Palmer) and is now in Bonville Road, Brislington, Bristol and is in the process of becoming business offices! He apparently paid around £100,000 for the fuselage in 2018 but it has taken 2 years of planning to get the plane to its new location.

I'm sad. I wanna save them from that horrible scrapper. Imagine how painful it must be for those planes. How would u feel if u were a plane and had to go through that. LET'S STOP THE PAIN.
@AviationUpclose
@AviationUpclose 4 жыл бұрын
There's no pain involved here. And most of the materials from the aircraft get re-used. So its actually a very beneficial process

It would be amazing if they could sell them off and make some cash from it. I went to a restaurant in the Czech Republic which was in an old airplane. Very cool!
