I’m an American with a British obsession.. recently retired Navy.. and TRIED LIKE HELL to get stationed at a SONAR facility in Newquay before it closed in 2007’. Last year I booked 4 different 1 month Airbnb all over England.. the best 4 months of my adult life.. walking around Portsmouth, Chattam, Coventry and London. After this video and recalling my desperate efforts to live there, I plan another 4 one month stays and this time I’ll stay in Newquay. Curtis from Las Vegas, living in awesome Mexico City!

Hey buddy 👋 awesome to hear your experience! That sounds awesome, Newquay and the surrounding areas (Cornwall) are my favourite in the UK. I would check out the county of Somerset as well (there are some videos on my channel from Glastonbury, Wells & Cheddar) there are some very quintessential English villages there. 👍

I love our British seaside towns. A real mix of new buildings and older architecture. I spent childhood family holidays at Boleaze Cove near Weymouth. We'd have a week in a friends caravan. (Not quite as 'plush' as the modern caravans, a bit rough and ready 😂). I still get that feeling of nostalgia when I drive down through Yeovil, heading towards Dorchester and the coast. The hotel looks really lovely, good price too. Love the doggo, what a beautiful girl she is. I'm really enjoying your videos. Have a great week. I'm a jam first on me scones, then a dollop of clotted cream on top.

The Victoria Hotel in Newquay holds a special place in my heart. Twenty-five years ago, I was working for a development company in Bournemouth and had been sent to Newquay for a week for a project involving new apartments. It was winter, and on my first night there, after exploring the town, I returned to the hotel for a beer before calling it a night. I struck up a conversation with the barmaid, and somehow, we ended up talking about Spain since I had just returned from a holiday there. She mentioned a girl from Barcelona who was staying at her parents' place and the girl was coming to the hotel to meet her . A few minutes later, this stunningly beautiful girl arrived, and we hit it off immediately. We talked and talked, so much so that her friend, the barmaid, eventually left us in the bar and went home. We had so much in common, shared a love for lanquages, travel and literature. As the sun began to rise at 5:30 am, we decided to take a walk to the beach and watch the sunrise, despite the cloudy weather. To make a long story short, we spent the entire week together, enjoying each other's company and creating unforgettable memories. I even drove her to Gatwick from Newquay for her flight home. A few weeks later, I visited her in Barcelona, where we had an amazing time. Her parents' home had a view overlooking the Nou Camp stadium! She also visited me in Bournemouth, where I lived at the time. Eventually, like many relationships, ours faded away as I moved abroad, and we lost touch for a few years. However, we reconnected through social media and are now both happily married to other people and settled. Nevertheless, that week at the Victoria Hotel in Newquay and the memories we created will always hold a special place in my heart.

I watched weston visit which i have been to more times than i can remember. Its ironic that weston is on its uppers yet is easily accessible via M5 yet newquay is less so. I went to Newquay in 2000 for an ex-friend's stag do, and thought it was not that great! The beach was out of town, there was not many supermarkets apart from rubbish Morrison's, the nightlife was ok in certain places, but mostly poor compared to Bristol, etc. Over the years, the roads have improved, and things have actually modernised, although it is still very poor!!! We are looking to go again, with our two dogs, who love going to new places, eateries, etc. The Victoria Hotel look's good enough, and allows dogs, too! The Headland Hotel is another "Must See", too. Obviously, Rick Stein's is just up the road in Padstow, with Hollywood stars buying up plots for them to knock down current houses, to rebuild their modern state of the art places in its place, just up the road, between Newquay and Padstow!
