as a woman i think at first i was a bit detached, Ukrainian women were managing to flee to a trustworthy neighbour with their lives intact, others determined to fight. i was not seeing the women as different or worse off, just among the population affected. Then bit by bit the reports of r*pe started to accumulate, maternity hospital got bombed, and there are children trapped inside the steel plant in Mariupol and so on. Recently my own country (Australia) is among those threatened with lightning speed retaliatory attacks if we carry on supplying military aid, which alongside other countries, we have, for better or worse. Best for Ukraine but our government is opening us up to a huge threat without discussing or acknowledging it. I've tried to imagine myself in the position of these women. i don't have any dependents. i find it really interesting that women are taking up arms for self defense in this context. After a while i ended up watching a thing on how Nazis treated captured female Soviet soldiers, which made me quite pensive. i have kept trying to push away this doomy feeling but it's highly logical so it's not working. i then tried to imagine the city i live in being overrun with men with guns and I'm frightened. I've never been frightened like this in my life. And i became particularly worried about whether women discovered fighting by Russians could face exceptionally brutal treatment and the idea of a captured female Ukrainian fighter being denied lawful treatment and instead subjected to torture has begun to haunt me. At the same time, i am remembering the little girl who played the protagonist in Pan's Labyrinth. It's just such a moving and creative depiction of a tragic situation. In that ilm, in many ways, acts of courage and valour aimed at protecting others receive a most visceral punishment. Sometimes when i watch news, you get desensitised and you almost need that to be able to function. Anyway, looking at a fictional portrayal of a child facing fascist rule and suffering as no child should suffer... currently I'm swept away by grief. Now when you take children who haven't been able to depend on the care of their parents... it's huge. i won't necessarily assume it's worse for them. They could even have an edge in that unlike others they are used to the loss of their parents. But one imagines even if a child came to terms with that and previously lived in a genuinely supportive care environment... experiencing war knowing you essentially don't have reunification with worried parents to hold out hope for - for me, I feel this is terribly rough and circumstances could easily lead to a feeling or reality of total re-abandonment. i wish i could, do something to protect them from that experience. It's like the children with cancer and other illnesses and disability. They're getting dealy the roughest hand. You can tell that little girl with the bob has her own sense of humour because she seemed like the half tried to jokingly flex with the "get away from the windows" command i caught a flash of her character and as soon as things like this happens, all those fatality and injury statistics for relevant areas attacked will never be the same again. i wish with all of my might that this child and others like her will be blessed by the kindness of adults who can help guide her forwards and support her over time. i hope these times can become a story that belongs in the past, of which there's no fear of returning to in the future. May these children and all others suffering like this around the world have the chance at last to know safety. I'm worried that with Putin's trajectory, that's the last thing they can have the chance to know. And I'm full of grief about it. i feel defeated. There doesn't seem to be a way out of this invasion, it's like quicksand. The better you do, the more globally fatal the likely endgame. Apparently. According to Putler. Probably when i was the first girl's age, i was reading a lot, drawing, learning to ride a bike, playing with my friends and pets, watching Monkey Magic, climbing trees.. This poor lamb has to undergo numerous rounds of panicked retreats to a crusty basement. The poor lamb. i would love to be able to send her a card somehow, and other children. i don't know how it would even get to them in these conditions. i have no good way to wrap this up, I'm just really sad and i appreciate the report despite that. tl! dr 💔

🇺🇦 Ukrainian is extirpated from Ukraine the frontier. 🇺🇦 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. (Psalms 101:5) Cut off is extirpate. Weed out. Root out and Destroy completely. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. (Proverbs 16:5) By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. Abomination is something disgusting. An abhorrence; especially in politics. Political images. Moab’s way. Perverted. Zephaniah 2:9. Revelation 11:8. Unfit to be called Jerusalem. No peace of mind. The fear of the LORD is the reverence of the LORD. Deep respect with high esteem. This is only the first step to have knowledge of upstairs. (1:7) Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land. (Deuteronomy 23:7) We don’t detest Rus The Saxon. We are enjoying watching the show. 😆 The Consequence of Your Vote He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD. Guess what this word “destroy” is? Extirpate. Weed out. Root out and Destroy completely.

And yet we think British families, who don't speak Ukrainian and know nothing about trauma, will be able to handle this. It will be a disaster. Should have put them in camps in the UK, while their visas were sorted out, they could be taught basic English, and could be helped with their trauma. After 3-6 months, these camps could be ended and Ukrainians could then go to British homes! By now we could have 25,000 in English homes.

Many of the people hosting do speak Ukrainian and if not they are learning to speak it. These people need somewhere safe, where they are welcome. Across the UK the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain has cultural. There are Ukrainian churches and Ukrainian Saturday Schools and Ukrainian Youth groups.
