Every year on the last Sunday of May the capital celebrates Kyiv Day. This year the holiday fell on May 29. Officially, the year of Kyiv's foundation is considered to be 482. So in 2022 Kyiv will be 1540 years old. Volodymyrska Street is considered to be the oldest street in Kyiv, over 1000 years old.

We as Americans should all hope to be at least half as brave as the elderly woman with the sign by herself (as well as the young woman with the pale roses who stood have her were life ahead of her). I'm afraid we might need courage like that soon.

This was so hard to watch. These incredible women are an amazing inspirations to all for freedom. My heart was just feeling their true desire for peace. The older woman is very touching and so deep.
