Thanks for documenting your modifications and rebuild!! I have a Harbor Freight press also. The frame was welded out of square, which made it even more wobbly. Now, waiting on the shelf I have a pneumatic jack, a winch, and some 6 inch channel iron, just waiting for modifying my press. The press is cut apart, but it will be next year before I get to it.

I watched your entire ultimate 20 ton press build with great enthusiasm eagerly awaiting the climax, the cherry on the cake, but you have left me hanging, unfulfilled ,on the vinegar strokes, gasping for air in a hot flush. Why did you not fit a pressure gauge? Great build, apart from the coitus interruptus 😁! Keep on trucking my friend and thank you for sharing.

What would it take to add a force guage like you see on a lot of commercial presses?

G'day Samuel, you will need to Tap into the main pressure gallery. You can drill into it straight through the bottom of the jack under the Main Ram. Tap a Fitting & run it to a Gauge. Cheers Mate.

Hey Trevor, did you notice any difference in press table flex under a full load pre/post drilling the five holes? How did you come about the decision to drill the specific pattern you used? What grade hardware did you use for your 16mm bolts? You've built yourself a fine press BTW!👏

G'day Mate, no, no difference in flex. holes in the centre of something like this have virtually no effect, unless they are really large. Hole pattern was just decided on what I considered would give me the most convenience. Bolts are grade 8.8. All overkill really, not a lot of force trying to drive the halves apart. Cheers Mate.

Excellent series and great build. So music wise - The second song I found was Self Deception; The Shift. Interesting choice and what were first and last? BTW - My wife and I are in our mid 60s and of few things we do not like is rap and well maybe Lawrence Welk! Looking forward to the next"thing"!
