All you have to do is detect pitch regions on Edison to find the key of the 808 and change it to that key. I feel like that's easier than what you showed in the video. Idk if you knew that or not but you should try that 4sho if you didn't kno

also reversing the polarity on the wav file can give more punch/definition to the 808 and or kick

I like what you said with the "less is more". I make my own beats and rap over them. I try to keep them simple and more barebones like they kinda did in the 90's because what's important to me is what the rapper is saying. When I listen to KZbin beats abd I try to rap over them, it's just impossible half the time. Though when I go to like a Pete Rock beat, it's super easy to find a flow. Some of the greatest hits in hip/hop were simple beats.

Yeah definitely - always best to do less and can always add more once vocals are on the track.

Wouldn’t you want the 808s to be in the same key as the sample or melody? Whats up with the C part?
@ppbg65687 ай бұрын
C is the default
@ppbg65687 ай бұрын
C is usually the part where u here the instrument the way its have to sound,not too pitched and not too pitched down. I wish u understand what i just say cause my english is not A+

808s should be tuned to C even if the key of the song is not C?
@processing__6 ай бұрын
I am not expert! So what I see is that bro tuned the 808 sample to C key so that when he will program them he can be sure that they are in right tonality...hope it make seance 😬
@zodiac5885 ай бұрын
Yes cause that’s what the og sample is played in so if u are playing it in c for example it will be playing something else if it’s not tuned in c therefore just confusing u and making ur 808s sound like 🗑️

You don't want to completely cut the lower frequencies out of any melodic track. You risk losing dynamics in the mix that (imo) are essential for having a fuller/louder sounding mix. You would rather use a low shelf, cut it a few db then compare the results.
