i train under alex at the time, he got his invitation 2 days before the ultimate absolute and had half a day to train for it because he had to teach classes...would of been a better match if he had more time to prepare for it.

kesa gatame (scarf hold/scarf choke), it's a typical judo pinning technique/hold, which can be modified for a choke

head and arm triangle is keta gatame, it's when you have your opponents arm trapped between your head and his head thus using his shoulder to cut the blood from one side and your arm from another side. This is different. This choke cuts off the blood and the air if applied properly. Look at this video of one of our Judo students competing in BJJ, the second match, our Judo student uses the EXACT same move to win. /watch?v=oXsBmYDPQUU

Your student didnt have head and arm control. What he had was some type of headlock and the kid on bottom taped because he just couldnt get out and freaked out. Chsiev had a serious arm triangle blood choke.
