Very true😂, it’s certainly not a comprehensive solution, but can help depending on the situation. Definitely still need a good bike lock!

Can you make one for me at 38.5mm that expands to grip when tightening? To go into the hole underneath the fork head tube ?

I’m afraid I don’t have time to model another at this point. But I’ll keep it in mind and may give it a shot when I have more time!

The AirBell is a much easier solution and it appears you already have one mounted on the bike.
@IZLabs Жыл бұрын
Haha no, that’s just a regular bell! The AirBell seems like a neat idea too though. I just like making things myself for the fun of it though so it doesn’t bother me. Thanks for watching!

I would like to see a version fully closed at the top with a 3D logo to match the bike brand name, Less conspicuous.
@IZLabs2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s definitely one of the modifications I was thinking about, but hadn’t thought about the brand logo, nice idea! I’ll add them to the Printables page when I get a chance!

I added a closed top, blank version that you can customize with any logo. Too many brands to add them all haha. Enjoy! www.printables.com/model/151876-biketag-an-airtag-bikemount

Unfortunately, many similar mounts are sold online that don’t show the AirTag. Great video however.

Glad you liked the video, I really appreciate the kind comment! Showing the air tag visibly is definitely a polarizing choice (it can work better for some bikes depending on the paint scheme), but I totally agree with you. I made a closed top version of the mount as well which you can find alongside the original on my printables page: www.printables.com/model/151876-biketag-an-airtag-bikemount/files

Id hate to see the person who tries to steal that bike!

Why does Apple don’t want us to see this??? I would hide the airtag in the frame though.
@IZLabs2 жыл бұрын
Haha that was a bit of clickbait titling from me, but I hope you still liked the video! Hiding it in the frame is definitely a cool idea, but it becomes a much more involved process.
@Ronny_van_Gerwen2 жыл бұрын
@@IZLabs I like your honesty, so you are forgiven. I have an e-mountainbike, so I can hide it in the motor compartment. Or I could print a part that goes in the fork

This is the worst place to install it. In the event of loss, communication with nearby devices will be at a low distance. Owners of Apple products will need to come close for the tag to inform you of their location. Normal coverage is about 35 meters. There are tests on KZbin.

Well it's worked pretty well for me, but hey: to each there own! Thanks for watching

Please don't do or use that. The stem can't tighten to the steerer tube enough, because the upper stem bolt has plastic inbetween and can't be tighten enough (5Nm is recomended torque for such bolts). Over time you will do damage to you steerer tube because the screw is loose and you can get seriously hurt if your stem falls of the steerer. You should find another solution. In my opinion the best place is inbetween the seat railing above your seatpost since you have a 3D printer that should be easy to do and it is a better place to hide an AirTag.

Thanks for your feedback! Maybe your bike is different but at least on mine and others I've seen, there is always a gap even at proper tightness. That gap is exactly what my design takes advantage of. I definitely considered the danger of not keeping the steerer tube tight and avoided several other solutions because of it. It may not look like it in the video but the plastic that fits between the gap doesn't actually get compressed by the screw, all the screw does is constrain the vertical translation of the cap. Take a look at the model on Printables if that helps you get a better idea. In my opinion this design does not present any increased risk to the rider (at least on my bike), but of course everyone must decide for themselves. Thanks again!

Not the best, What's the point of having it on show a thief would know what that is. Much better products on the market than this.
@IZLabs2 жыл бұрын
It's not meant to be a comprehensive solution (just one part of strategy including a good lock, smart bike placement, etc). It actually does blend in more in real life and all the more so if you use the fully covered version I also have available. It's just one option out there if you want something that looks nice, and hey it's free! Thanks for watching!

But who’s doing all of this for installation???
@IZLabs Жыл бұрын
Haha all the initial taking apart was just for my testing, it only takes one screw to install the final product!
