I may be wrong, but I think the megafauna one is referring to megafaunal mass extinction. Throughout human existence we’ve seen a mass dying off of megafauna and the ones that are left, that aren’t domesticated, are mostly in decline. Their extinction is a threat not only because of their place in the food web, but also due to impact they are supposed to have on the environment.

The whole idea of a tidally locked planet has been used in Star Wars: Ryloth, the home planet of the Twi'lek (the tentacle-headed humanoids often seen as strippers or associated with crime) is tidally locked to its sun, so they have built a belt of civilization at the border between the light and dark side, as well as extensive underground tunnels

The Grey Goo Scenario just reminded me of this game called Star Control 2, which was an old MS-DOS game. You can play it for free by finding something called "The Ur-Quan Masters" if I remember properly. It has a bunch of 3DO Content addons that I would say improve the experience with the dialoge & whatnot. Anways, getting back on topic, there is an Enemy you start seeing once you enter Hyperspace. One of these enemies are known as Slylandro Probes. I think they looked something like Red Crystalline things with electricity running through/between them. I don't recall how you find out, but you find out they were probes sent via a race of beings that can't leave their planet (Think maybe they were for of lifeform living cloud type beings that couldn't leave due to nothing being able to be done via materials/ship making. These probes priority for breaking targets down into materials for making more copies of itself was accidently set to the highest priorioty, meaning instead of giving information about the aliens they were used by, they instead after a bit instatnly turn hostile to you. Make sure to ensure your settings are done properly. Get someone knowledgeable to double check your work. 😆

The Noospheric Contamination seems to be something I have seen in Fallout and which is a part of other stories set after an apocalyptic event. All structures and authorities break down, so any semblance of humanity and society before the collapse is gone, with different survivor groups, some driven by drugs or madness, developing their own completely new and different values and systems, far away from the norms of the pre-apocalyptic society.

I sorta wish they added a mention to the Time of Judgement/Gehenna from Vampire: The Masquerade/World of Darkness, though I know it's a tad niche. In a world where vampires exist, their god-like forefathers all wake up from rest and rampage, killing humans and vampires alike, as well as make the presence of vampires known, then causing the mass panic of vampires. There's a whole list of signs of the end, and pretty much the entirety of the tabletop RPG for the last 10~ irl yrs has been about the end times of this world.

It's Sunday morning and a perfect time to indulge in some more apocolypse stuff. Grey goo doesn't turn organic to inorganic. Organic just means contains carbon, e.g. plastics come from hydrocarbons. If grey goo did convert organic to inorganic then we may accidently create it by trying to remove excess carbon from the atmosphere. Carbon is very useful because it can produce long chains unlike, say, silicone so grey goo would most likely be organic. Supervolcano is a term that was invented by the media. Geologists don't class some volcanoes as supervolcanoes and it is a bit of a contentious term. Normally what we think of as a supervolcano - the ability to create ash etc over a certain amount with a V8 eruption - means there are not over 20 of them. I can't remember the range of possible ones but it's under 10 "supervolcanoes" and may be under half a dozen. If there are ant chemists or geologists or physical geographers in the comments who can correct my babbling?

I thought the definition of a super volcano is that it doesn’t create a mountain so to speak, but a big crater. A caldera.

The Yog-Sothoth and Azathoth dynamic isn’t straight forward. It’s intentionally hard for us to comprehend so it’s nearly impossible for us to decide who’s "stronger". But Yog-Sothoth resides in realities greater than the one that Azathoth’s slumber creates. It’s alluded to that our reality and such is just one of many. Maybe there are many dreaming Azathoth type entities (after all, Yog-Sothoth is Azathoth’s father) and there are even more realities. The thing that I love about Yog-Sothoth is that, conceptually speaking, no human mind can create something that’s stronger than him. Since he’s higher than existence itself. It would be hard to come up with an idea that can realistically put another entity on a higher level. You can’t just say “oh this new entity resides BEYOND what’s OUTSIDE the universe.”

The Sun death one has never made sense to me… All stars are expanding constantly just at like a nano-angstrom a day. Which would say to me that as the star increases in size the bodies orbiting it will simply retain their orbit and be pushed away at the same rate as the growth. Unless maybe a star expanded in an instant, which I don’t believe is how that works? I could be wrong though

A very unscientific test was used to "debunk" the simulation theory by running particles and it didn't take too many before the computer was not able to process all of them and so they say because of that it's impossible for our universe to be a simulation which i relate it to a game of GTA 5 where Michael's son Jimmy has a computer and it would be like him saying that because he can't run a video game on his computer then video games are impossible. Sticking with the GTA series as our tech increases the only logical thing to do is profit from it and one of the biggest ways to profit from it is with video games. Once AI is used in gaming and is capable of advancing inside the game then it will reach a point to make it's own simulations. So if you have a video game with 100 million sales capable of creating it's own simulations that will eventually advance to be able to create it's own simulations and so on and so on within just 2 generations you're already at 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 1 septillion simulations in only 2 generations.... imagion 100. So what are the odds this is base reality?
