YT has just put your channel in my feed for the first time. As an Aussie it always interesting to see visitors reactions to things (kangaroo, koalas, emus, cockatoos etc) that we take for granted. A few comments: 1. The cockatoo at 31:16 is a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. You can see them in the wild in the countryside but also in urban areas, particularly in Sydney. Their crest is sulphur coloured, ie yellow. Interesting that John perceived it to be green. This could be for slight colour-blindness quite common in men where red, orange and yellow are perceived to be greenish. It's no big deal, I have a slight red/blue colour- blindness. It mind be interesting to do a test for colour-blindness. 2. Australian coffee culture - read up on how Australia sent the local Starbucks franchise bankrupt. They came in thinking we would put up with their 'sugary dishwater' (I can say that as I lived and worked in NYC in 80s), opened cafes all over the country and then fell over because we tried it once and never went back. The only Starbucks you will see in Australia now are in tourist areas and usually only American and Asian tourists in them. Melbourne is the epicentre of Aus coffee culture and supposedly has more coffee cafes per capita than any other major city on the planet. Cafes have to be good and provide high quality coffee just to survive the competition. 3. No crocodiles, box jellyfish or Irukandji south of Queensland but watch out for bluebottle jellyfish in the water which can sting but not fatal and Tiger snakes on the land. Great White sharks do like the cooler temperate waters of southern Australia. 4. When my American friends first arrive in Aus, they always say how much more expensive things are in Aus but then they realise that people are paid higher wages and salaries, even the minimum wage is AUD$24.10 per hour (about USD$16.00 per hour). Then there is no tipping or added on local taxes, the price on the label/menu is what you pay. So even the lowest paid have a better quality of life. Might explain why people seem so happy. I'm a Queenslander who has lived in Melbourne for 30+years, the rest of Australia is completely different to what you have experienced in this video, you will have to come back to see the rest. Have a good time in Aus and New Zealand. 😀

Hi guys, to answer some of your questions: We all pump our petrol and then pay after. Those are Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and they've got real personality and they're everywhere. The weather is extremely changeable along the very southern parts of the continent, and Tasmania. You'll find the major roads leading to holiday destinations busy only during school holidays, so yeah things are more laid back generally. We love our country - but don't need to fly the flag everywhere as if somehow you need to prove it. Loving you enjoying our beautiful country, especially when Rhianna explained for how long she's been waiting for this. Please come back anytime, there's so much more to see and do.
