Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!
0:00 82 hours from Perth to Sydney!
2:00 day 1: our room tour
6:15 2,700 mile journey begins!
8:50 our first meal onboard
9:40 What is the Indian Pacific?
11:24 Day 2: first stop in Cook
17:01 Day 3: Adelaide meet up :)
22:42 Day 4: Blue Mountains
26:10 Bloopers :)

The building of the standard gauge line from Sydney to Perth was necessary to keep Australia unified. Western Australia was becoming a wealthy state in the 1960s due to iron ore extraction, and so the building of a continuous line across the continent guaranteed Australia didn't split into two nations. It was a similar situation to building the line across Canada in the 1800s. When I travelled across the Nullabor years ago, I found my eyes could focus on just one thing - the horizon. There was nothing else to look at.
@kevharper1378
@kevharper1378 2 ай бұрын
The standard gauge line from Adelaide to Kalgoorlie was built in the 1920's to keep WA in the commonwealth, it was a sort of bribe to get them to join us. The standard gauge from Kalgoorlie to Perth, and from Port Augusta to Broken Hill which completed the link was done in the 60's so that a simple single gauge train could do the trip from Indian to Pacific Oceans. My Grandparents did the trip in the 30's and had to change trains at Albury, Melbourne, Bordertown, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Kalgoorlie to get to Perth, and then do all that in reverse. WA has a persistent minority that wants to succeed from the Commonwealth and periodically makes a noise about it, something to do with mining royalties and excessively wealthy individuals feeling hard done by.

And the look on Kara's face when Nate asked "I thought you said you were so full you couldn't eat another thing?" And when he jokingly said "do you want a brownie?" and of course Kara took them to eat one. You guys are awesome. I love how much you guys know each other and love each other and just love life. You are truly an inspiration to so many people. And great entertainment for millions of people. God bless you both and I hope you never stop loving life the way you do. And by the way... I think what Nate shared on his run was nice to hear. I know you guys are absolutely amazing at staying positive and happy and enjoying the moment no matter what you are doing. It was nice to get to know a little more about at least his fear and one of the reasons why you are doing what you are doing. I am extremely jealous and envious of your lives. Newish viewer here, Also an Aussie, Glad ya actually know how to eat Vegimite. So many people slap it on like Chocolate spread and it's one of the first pranks us Aussies often do to foreigners if we get the chance.

Fantastic video!!! It’s always a nice thing to see how many different trains you’ve traveled on across the world and this one was definitely another amazing and beautiful experience to have there in Australia!!! Also when you were talking about the different trains you’ve rode on, in the US it was actually Amtrak’s *Coast Starlight* from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington I believe you rode on, not the California Zephyr which *Fun Fact:* Actually runs from the San Francisco Bay Area of California to Chicago, Illinois. Just thought I’d point that little detail out. I really enjoy watching the variety of videos you guys have posted on your channel especially when it comes to these ones about rail travel!!! This was awesome to see with all the beautiful landscapes of Australia while on the train and the World’s Steepest Railroad too!!! Well done, cheers and keep up the great work!!! :) ❤️❤️🚂

Yep, it takes time to get your land legs back Nate. That's the reverse motion sickness. Thank you both for sharing this great adventure with us. Always so fun, informative, often breathtaking and inspirational. Stay safe and God bless.
