This is a copy of a Winchester Model 94. The 92 Action is a much more compact action. When you work the action on a 92, nothing drops down below the receiver as it does on the 94. In addition, there are two rectangular locking lugs on each side that come up through the bolt towards the rear. So each locking lug is half in a cutout on the bolt and half in a cutout on the receiver. I like the 92 action much better than the 94.

Contrary to some of the comments below, the 1892 Winchester was a shorter action made for revolver cartridges such as .38-40, .44-40, etc. The 1894 had a longer action, and was made for the .30-30 rifle cartridge. The thing on the left side of the action is called a saddle ring, and you will find it on most Red Rider BB rifles. Since this thing takes the same cartridges as the copy of the 1873 Colt, it would be nice to see it with a rifled barrel, made for pellets. Another great improvement would to be to make a copy of the Marlin which has side ejection, allowing the mounting of a 'scope.
@richwhilecooper4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I'll look it up. While it's not rifled, it shoots superbly with pellets and the shells and pellets work fine in my Colt SAA bb pistol too.

I know this is a 3-year-old video, but looking at the comments. This BB gun is patterned off the 1892 Winchester! Look it up researching people that is what the manufacturer says, it is not patterned off the 1894 model, even though they look dang near identical. In the ring on the side is called a saddle ring. That's when the rifle is put into the holster on the horse there's a strap that goes through the ring that keeps the rifle from falling out.
@KiLLJOY1056 Жыл бұрын
It's actually modeled after the 1894. The 1892 doesn't have a drop lever like the 94 and Umarex both do. The Winchester 1894 was known as "The Gun That Won The West" which is why Umarex called it "The Cowboy". It's actually, a pretty exact replica of a Winchester 1894 in .45 Colt

Iron sights are tough when you get old. Old eyes work much better with a scope or aperture sight.

That's why a copy of a Marlin would be a better idea. The side ejection of the Marlin allows for scope mounting.

Forgot to add that with the external spring you cannot operate the gun the normal way. Because with the external spring there is too much pressure on the cocking lever to load the chamber. So with the spring off cock the gun and load the chamber. Than when ready to fire put spring back on hammer. Not the best but at least you can still use the gun. The hammer also has to be in the forward position.

Extra shells are a must as you will undoubtedly loose one or two. Very economical on gas. It's inexpensive. I have done much shooting at all recently so I can't speak for how well it will hold up to constant use. It's definitely one of my favourite guns.

Great review Rich on the cowboy legends shell loading/ejecting rifle. Just a couple of questions for you. Have you noticed the rubber seals getting tore up a little on the shells ?.Several other reviewers have pointed this out, why ? And are spare seals available for the shells ? Also, do you happen to know, if a dedicated rifled barrel version of this gun is in the pipeline ? I note the current model is smoothbore only, but see some shooters using lead pellets in the bb shells. Imagine a pellet firing rifled barrel version, accuracy would be great !!
@richwhilecooper5 жыл бұрын
Rubber seals... no. I put a bit of silicone lube on them so the don't dry out. I'd say it's just as cheap to buy new shells by mine are fine. Dunno if a rifled version is due. Mine shoots tight enough groups *(now I have my bifocals and a bit of practice under my belt) to think it wouldn't matter much. The rifle seems to work brilliantly with both lead bbs and lead pellets. So does my Colt Army SA six-shooter which uses the same shells. I'm very happy with mine.

I have not and here's why: I KNOW they won't fit in the shells and jam in the Colt SAA - I did a bb comparison video a while back and the Gamo lead BBs which are the same diameter as pellets got stuck in all of my 4.5mm bb guns. I am doing the shooting test today hopefully so I can comment on the accuracy of the rifle. I don't want to risk damaging the gun or getting a jam so I won't be trying pellets.

Yes the POV shots are too many and long. I'll stop doing these in future vids. Sorry you don't like the music. I have a limited choice.

Sounds like something one gets after too long on horse-back...

5 mins of research before you switch on the camera would help

You know, I could have done that but I've had so many responses about the version it's a copy of, what bbs/pellets it likes and people like to comment and I enjoy reading the comments and replying. As I'm not a professional youtuber and earn no income from my vids (Still waiting for monetization authority in spite of meeting the criteria) I have limited time to spend filming and editing. Generally people are helpful with unanswered questions and I don't claim to be an expert, especially not an internet expert (worst kind).

£220. But value is in the eye of the purchasor. My proper air-rifle was over £700 minus accessories. Some people have setups of 1000's and collections worth more. It's not pocket money I'll grant you.
