Comparison: 3 lever action airguns showdown at noon.

Someone asked me why I like the LOBO Mustang so much, and I decided to make a video trying to explain why it's totally not just the fact that it's the most expensive thing I've bought and I need to justify it.

Started as a quality fun video. Then went wrong. Motivation and quality gone. I've never made a comparison video before, and kinda lost direction from the shooting section onwards, let me know what you'd like to see instead in future. Putting a scope and silencer on a replica 'Winchester' is like paying Christian Dior to sew a back pocket on a sock! Who in their right mind would screw a scope on a Colt S.A.A? An excellently detailed video which made me very pleased that I bought the Umarex Legends Cowboy Rifle!

A scope on a SAA you say... hmmm... good idea! The sock pocket is actually genuinely a good idea, too! Anyway, yeah, a bit overkill. But there IS the "tactical" version of the Umarex Cowboy Rifle, even comes with a moderator thread on the end already installed! Which I desperately want to get, but it's so expensive here, and I technically already have it.

I use a Beretta co2 pistol silencer adaptor on my Cowboy legends. It's small and neat. A very tight fit on the barrel end. I used a flat piece of wood and a few taps from a hammer. No need to use the grub screws.

In my country, Argentina, the stainless steel Walther Lever Action is currently priced at $750, and on a page in Spain its price is €665.

I noticed that the prices have gone up here, too! It was ~$400 in most shops, but has now jumped to ~$600 at some shops. I was lucky to get mine 2nd hand, in perfect condition. In fact, the shell-ejecting version has gone up, too, almost as much as what the Walther one USED to be.

You can get a 2x12g to 88g c02 adapter for the Walther. The adapter can be removed without first emptying the two cartridges inside. Allowing you to swap the adapter between different 88g rifles. It's the best of both worlds My Fargo arrives tomorrow 😁👍😁

Put some silicone grease on the front gascapsule for the Umarex Cowboyrifle, and let the gas hiss and empty, and it just stopped for me. If it doesn't work even after repeating with another capsule, well then you probably have a problem. But it's not an impossible gun to work on though, and there are some videos here. This summer I've put some 3'000 shots through it, and I still think it's a crazy fun gun. And since spread is 100% consistent, with no fliers, one can do perfectly serious shooting - you just have to choose suitable size targets, like right size can's, FT targets, Biathlon targets and so on. No paper punching! Spread is about 9mm per 10m, so at 20m it's 18mm and so forth. One can shoot it at 30m, though that's the limit for my eyes, since targets get blury att longer distance. Right size of targets, in my opinion, is 2-3 times the consistent spread of a gun. That way you know, that any missing shots, definately are your own making. ;-D The almost perfect copy of a model 1894 (the extra safety looks the same on present production), and the period buckhorn style sight, just make me love this gun even more. A scope kills the period feeling for me. TIP - put a blanket under you when shooting outdoors, to collect shells.

Hey, thanks for the awesome message! Yeah, I love this rifle, it's incredibly accurate for a smoothbore. I always use silicon oil on my CO2 canisters, and sadly it just kept on leaking. There are some fantastic repair videos out there, the one I used was in German, but super obvious what was going on. While I had the gun apart, I got distracted and wondered if I could make an adapter for a HPA tank and put a tiny one in the butt stock, not for any reason other than it was lockdown, and I needed a project. I actually managed to get everything working, as long as I kept the pressure around 800PSI. And yeah, being in hardwood floor country, I make sure to have a soft blanket under me when shooting with it, the shells ejecting is SO satisfying. I don't have any experience with the real steel, and being all third-world, my cowboy / west knowledge comes from lousy TV exposure, so I'm just having fun in my head fantasy land.

@@MyAirgunPhase How many shots did you get with the 800psi? I would have thought that the pressure would drop very quickly, and trajectory change quickly? I have been thinking of making the same type of adapter, but for bulkfilling CO2 from Soda Stream gasbottles. (For my Umarex / Hämmerli 850 / M2, I plan to get a regulated (800psi) paintball HPA tank. Very nice gun, with excellent accuracy.) Could you e-mail me a photo of your adapter? Because I am looking how it sounds works and power of the umarex it can be fixed that problem is not broken inside,Infront of the cock has the injector and that injector needs a bit of silicon oil or a new black rubber and it works again perfectly.

HI! I am wondering whether I should get the Lobo Mustang in .177 or .22. I have a crosman MTR77NP .177 that I can break the sound barrier with (using alloy pellets) and It gives me this awesome sound with the sonic crack. I was wondering if this would be possible with the lobo mustang in .177. I heard it is already quite loud (which I love) but if the .177 version could break the sound barrier I would much rather buy it in that caliber. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!!

Hey! Honestly, I don't know, I think you should mail LOBO and ask, they were really helpful in my initial mail! That said, I do remember the .22 version advertising 40J or ~30ft-lb So if you take a 7grain .177 pellet and say you want it to break the sound barrier ~1125fps, then you end up with energy of 19ft-lbs... So it _should_ be possible, but best asking them.

Had the cowboy and the walther for a no of years. Gave up the Walther never got it to work properly.It’s now in pieces cannot be bothered to put back together. Action is very complicated. Cowboy been with me for 3 years. No probs with leaks. Have 80 bullets for the range and use 2 cylinders each time. Store empty. Oil each cylinder head before use. Must have shot thousands of pellets never bbs.

Can u tell me a good air gun rifle for maximum 130 bucks? :-) Most favorite with pump. I have seen the Umarex NXG APX pump rifle. It costs only 70 bucks.. have u seen it?

I've seen the NXG APX, and one video showed it to be quite accurate, but couldn't find out if it was actually rifled or not. I can't get it locally and would have to order it from Germany, so the costs are a bit higher for me. I really really like the Daisy 880 for a cheap pump rifle, mine is insanely accurate, and it's easy to put pellet through pellet using the iron sights at 10 yards even! Otherwise, for $130, sadly I don't know, the prices vary so widely between countries. I can barely get ANYTHING for $130 here, sorry.

Oh yes! I know a shop that has had one for sale for a while, but it's very expensive. There's also a Sumatra 2500 for sale. I would LOVE to have them all, but they're very expensive, and the Mustang is the most modern and convenient to fill for me right now.

Can you put an open sight on the lobo? Kind of a sin to put a scope on a cowboy gun, they are intended to be open sights

Yup! The later models have a threaded hole to mount an open sight on, and you can get a front sight from them, too. They very kindly sent me a set, but the body of mine is the older model without the hole, and I'm reluctant to take my entire gun apart for the open sights, so I'm sticking with the sin for now.

I have the Wells Fargo Umarex Winchester, but I sanded the wood back and stained it black to match the gold better than brown. That last 1 is horrible looking

As much as I love my Umarex Cowboy Rifle, I have to agree with what you said here. Co2 is not ideal. It lacks power for more than just plinking. Picking up the empty cartridges can be a pain in the ass. As I'm looking at PCP rifles to transition into more serious shooting, the Lobo Mustang is exactly what I'm looking for! How loud is the Lobo Mustang without silencer compared to the Umarex?

Yeah, the Umarex one is fun for the right mood, but sometimes I just want the convenience of a large PCP tank and a magazine. I don't have a license for it, but I've heard the Sumatra 2500 is a beast, if it's power you're going after, or the Seneca, whatever it's called near you. My Umarex rifle is halfway on the road to becoming PCP, I'm just dragging my heels on that project. Sadly that means I don't know what the non-suppressed values are for the Umarex. The Lobo is about 108dB without moderator on, and if I were to guess, I think I measured the Umarex in the past at around 96dB, or somewhere near there. But remember, my Lobo has been adjusted to stay within the

By default, the Lobo is 24J, my local limit is 10J, so the friendly folks at Mustang limited it to 10J before shipping it to me. I can't find any shop that's willing to adjust the Sam Yang before sending it to me.

@@MyAirgunPhase I managed to get a Shinsung career 707 .25 Apparently 90lbs pressure on leaving the barrel went through the shed door 1"thick cupboard door and 1/4 backboard into a concrete block 1/4" I realised that it was no ordinary gun with the silencer on it made a hell of a crack but no recoil and I was still looking down the telescopic at the target. Freaking me out the power and noise of it

NOT bearings ! BB is the designation of shot size, originally it was . 180, later to be dropped to .177. Please don’t say ball bearing it’s confusing and my cause injury to someone trying to fire ball bearings in these guns. Thanks.

@@MyAirgunPhase think hes on about the power buzz.. checked your lastest vid and it is still there.. have to turn it up quite a bit to really hear it tho XD depending what you use to record audio you should be able to play with some levels to get rid of it.. but could be a loose/faulty cable or you might want ground your equipment before you start recording

​@@craigyd Right, thanks for the info! I use a pretty average lavalier mic plugged directly into my camera. I've heard the buzzing before, so tend to throw a noise reduction filter on in Resolve on every audio track. It's not grounded though, and I have some build-site LED lamps above me, that could definitely be a source of it. I'll have another look at my setup, thanks again for the hints.

@@MyAirgunPhase wouldnt loose any sleep over it man i had to turn up the volume a fair bit to hear it.. if you have a noise gate filtter you could try playing with the open and close sliders to find a sweet spot where it wont pic up the buzz hopefully
