I was 12 years old and loved this music so much that I taught myself how to connect the sound from the VCR onto a cassette player so I could record it onto a cassette. I then listened to it every morning while making my bed. It was my routine for well over a year, and that's a long time when you're 12 years old.

Mike, Just now seeing your comment from 4 years ago. I have been playing piano and keyboards since about 1980, when i had about 6 months of lessons on an old organ. I never really did learn how to read music, but always loved playing and working out song arrangements regardless. I like Journey, REO, Styx, Van Halen, Rush, Beatles, Ozzy, Stones, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, etc. I agree, those monster boards of the late 70s through the mid to late 80s are really something. While I do have some fairly high end Yamaha Boards, I could never afford the older Korg, Moog, and Oberheim OB-X which was used by Eddie Van Halen. I once had the opportunity to play an OB-Xa and played Jump, Dreams, Love Walks In, and I'll Wait on that monster. Those boards were far out of my price range in the 1980s when I was in my teenage years. Still some great times to be sure. Growing up in the 1970s and 80s was a time the kids today can never live. The technology, playing baseball and hockey in winter on farm pond, football games, and the BMX bikes, and everybody hanging out together and going to the roller rink and Battle of the bands and video arcades, listening to Old Journey and Rush 2112 full 33 record on a Fisher Stereo with Pioneer Amp and JBL speakers, the kids today will never have what we had back then. Hell, seems like no one even goes out anymore. Anyway, sorry for the super long response. I am just enjoying a few minutes of talking about the good ol days. Take it easy. All the best. Custos

I absolutely BEGGED my parents for CCM skates after watching this. I figured I'd work my way up through juniors and get picked up by the Rangers. Instead, I got a used pair of Bauer Turbos, my brother's beat up, wrong handed Koho and a pair of gloves that went missing after two weeks. The Rangers never even gave me a sniff and I ended up playing soccer. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
@ChrisHonowayOFFICIAL2 ай бұрын
Bauer turbos were the first skates I got in 1988, and I realized after I got my next pair (CCM tacks) that turbos were just roller blades without wheels.

In that specific scene it's Peter Markle - the writer/director. He used to play pro hockey in the NHL. Rob Lowe did actually learn to skate for this film, but he's doubled by other skaters for nearly all the competitive scenes, except where you can see his face. Both Swayze and Keanu Reeves (who played hockey IRL) could skate prior to the shooting the film, and Swayze trained as a figure skater, but had never played hockey.

One amazing thing about the 80s is that the movies made you want to be whatever it was they featured, the music was inspirational, melodic, required talent to produce and rap music was not that popular in mainstream. The only thing missing from rap is the ‘c’ in front of it.
@NightArcade3 жыл бұрын

Question: Was Rob Lowe really doing those drills on ice or was it his stunt double? From some angles it seems to really be him doing those hockey tricks.
@jaseys4 жыл бұрын
I believe it was the late Great Peter Zezel that did some of the skating and puck handling for Rob Lowe in Youngblood.
@Diggerbx2 жыл бұрын
It was actually the director Peter markle who was an ex pro hockey player doing this sequence
@Snipes-762 жыл бұрын
I read in an article. All the extras in the film played in the OHL. Lowe’s stunt double for the movie and in this scene was a 16 year old kid named Randy (forget the last name).If you google it - you’ll see a pic of him and Lowe together. The resemblance is fair. Being a former hockey player myself, the stunt double must have been a decent prospect at that time because he can really handle the puck.
