They really are that good! I bought an 03 Mille R on mint condition, 10 years ago for £2750. Last of the gen1 bikes with the radial brakes, 57mm tb's etc. Absolute bargain and my favourite bike I've ever owned. Other bikes come and go but the Mille has a home for life.

I have a gen 1 rsv mille, standard but with the double exhaust from an SP. handling is amazing, costed me about 2800,- and that was 2 years ago.

There's so many of these secondhand for crazy cheap money. I sold my RSV4 a few years ago and regretted it ever since but i'm definitely considering a Mille as my next purchase.

I have an opportunity to buy one with 34k km on the clock, pristine condition, for €3.500...almost went blind on it, but did my research and the only thing stopping me is the stator/rectifier issue. I know there are some solutions for that but I'm just afraid that it's going to be a money pit :/ do you know what would be the normal price of ownership on a yearly basis?

Unfortunately with any bike, you can get lucky or unlucky. Dave hasn't had any issues with his for a year now. My Ducati has had both stator and reg/rec replaced with a new battery which cost around £700 so not awful. There's not a huge amount to go wrong with them so if it's got a good service history, I'd buy it. Look after it and you will be good

As we've got used to buying different new bikes, it sometimes feels new to ride an older bike. Also, in some ways, a lot of (not all) the changes to bikes in the last 15 years have been cosmetic or user-interface technology. Numb Knob on the tank is even worse in leathers...!

Not sure the difference. I know it's not the R model but it comes up as a RSV 1000 Mille when you put the reg in on reg checkers/insurance
