Ok, I looked at KTM warranty for USA as of April 2021 and they improved it to be ANY part in the period provided proper maintenance, not submerged yadda yadda yadda. So it looks like once I gain enough experience on my klr650, it will be my next bike at this point it seems. So on your link for the mini motor gps tracker, I ASSUME there is more than one place to put it on the bike, so being from the USA you still get proper affiliate credit when I use your supplied link right?

Regarding that gravel crash. If you see the gravel coming up, is it better to hold or cut the throttle to coast, assuming you can’t brake beforehand?
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 20 сағат бұрын
On the road, with road tyres, do your best to avoid it. The front wheel is normally the problem because that sliding out from underneath you can't really be stopped. Rear wheel going through, I would say constant gentle throttle and no braking. If it was just my rear wheel going through I doubt I would have come off!
@stevek4449

At 7:30 lowering rear suspension. Is it based on speed to lower at stop lights, dedicated mode or button, or dig through menus each time to raise and lower? 32 inch inseam 6 foot tall, 25 stones weight. But big feet.18 USA size or 53 EU I think. Current bike is a KLR t50 S. So I can flat foot it no issues.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 20 сағат бұрын
At 6foot you should be fine to get feet down both sides without issue. The suspension is adjusted by dropping into the suspension menu and lowering or raising the preload

That version is slightly thicker so definitely try to light dust with an air gun if you can. If not, dab it onto the prime rusting parts like bolts and that should cover it enough. Engine cases rarely rust but it's always the bolts that do as their protective layer isn't as thick

I have a 2018 25000 mile SAS which I’ve tailored to suit me over the years. Bar end mirrors, handlebar risers, Givi screen and an Air Hawk seat pad. I’ve been looking for my next bike for a few months and come away from test rides realising that the bike I really want is the one I already own. The bike has been faulty free, but I stretched the chain at 18,000 miles after which the low speed chatter was unpleasant, and the battery comments in this video are bang on. I stupidly fitted a smaller battery which resulted in starting issues and electronics warnings. If the bike does a lot of short journeys a trickle charger is essential, but then it’s a big V twin that takes a fair bit of cranking. My problem is that I’d like a lighter bike with a bit more off-road usability but which does highways well too. The KTM does the rough stuff, but it’s a big old beast and hard work in some situations. I guess it will have to be be two bikes rather than a change.

Hi @Sam Vincent I just ordered the tune. Can you please tell me what other modifications did you do apart from fueling smoothness/throttle jerkiness ? Did I hear in the video that you disabled the engine braking also ? Is there too much exhaust popping now (I like it once in a while but would hate it to pop on each deceleration) ? Thanks!
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 2 күн бұрын
Hey! Great news! The map includes all of that - it's part of the tune. Removing the deceleration restriction is what causes the pops but it's not all the time. Mine does it more if I use low-octane fuel, but it doesn't pop very much when I use higher octane. So if I use 90RON fuel, it pops more, and 99RON it only pops once in a while.

Just for your information, do not forget the utility of dielectric grease, another interesting item is there is a Firearms cleaner and Oiler called strike hold on the market I don't know whether it's available where you're at. You spray that on electronic items and it insulates them quite well from shorting out because I've seen electronic items sprayed with this and put into a water bath and they function just fine. It is a tremendous product for that application. And every little bit helps

I am an ex KTM Service Manager. I would never own one as I had to deal with the irate customers who had broken down or had warranty issues. KTM need to up their game to compete with the Japanese and BMW, regardless of what you say 😮😮It seems you’ve been lucky!
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 6 күн бұрын
I don't disagree that KTM UK need to up their game when it comes to customer service and warranty issues. The thing that bugs me is there still is a mentality that the reason something has gone wrong is because it's a KTM. Case in point being the huge numbers of BMW 1300GS starter motors getting wet and catching fire whilst the bike is parked... all the BMW customers are pretty quiet about it and it's being labelled as teething issues on a new model.. if that was a KTM, owners would be livid, screaming how sh*t the entire brand was from the rooftops. Side note - the way a few of my followers with Hondas have been treated, I don't think it's all sunshine and roses everywhere else. We are all buying heavily technologically advanced bikes with a lot of electronics... things will go wrong. My dealer have been brilliant and are brilliant. If you have a dealer who don't want to help, that's the issue which seems less common with BMW granted. Over 40k miles now and still no issues 👍🏼

I cant see the problem with having a locking petrol tank ? , why ask for more possible failure points by having it electronic? unless you ae suggesting it's to much effort to get the key out of your pocket and open the tank.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 11 күн бұрын
Personally, it's either both ignition and tank, or neither. If you have a key in the ignition, it's easy to take it out for the tank. And if you have keyless ignition, the weight and electronics are mostly already there so very little extra effort to make the tank keyless. Bike clothing pockets always have linings that come out the second you look at them

Hey there, I recently met a Monkey in person and even though I never owned a bike, I thought to myself: this is something I'd ride. Now, for the past weeks I'm contemplating the Monkey and the Grom and can't really decide. One of the questions going round and around in my head still is: can I take my GF on my rides on the Monkey? I know that there are 3rd party passenger pegs, that's not a biggie. But what about the seat? I'm a skinny guy at 173cm and 60kg, my GF is like 155cm and around 43kg - is the factory seat long enough for us both? And even if I'd put on a 3rd party seat, wouldn't be the exhaust too much in the way for her short thighs/legs? Wouldn't be the tank too much in the way of my own legs, if I'm "pushed" forward by her?
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 11 күн бұрын
Nice! I'm glad you could see yourself riding one! As for having a pillion, you could probably get another person on the seat with you but I'm not sure I'd want to. There is plenty of seat space but I don't imagine it would be very comfortable. The power might also be an issue carrying around 2 people

Hi - it’s Big kg payloadRodger’s in Ireland. I’ve done 11000 miles on my 4 speed 2020 model. Monkey is only designed for one person, the shocks are ridiculously if not criminally soft, the seat while luxuriously comfortable for one would be a nightmare for two and most importantly your insurance would be invalid as pointed out to me by my insurance company. My Monkey is rated for only 105kg payload and then there’s the question of available power. I know the Grom and Benelli TNT have pillion seats but I’d never be brave enough to perch myself on them.
