@adar3605 after a good long play session and a half, i can honestly say that unless you want to know all the character lore, then not really! I'm finding the storyline of journey doesn't have much of anything to do with arena, and you'll still learn about the obtainable units as you play. It's been enjoyable so far, I'd recommend giving it a try. Gameplay loop is very different from arena while keeping a few of arena's elements so it's a refreshing change of pace.

I am also a beginner and here are a few tips that helped me. This is by far one of the best auto battlers with hero collections i ever played. 1. Dont level your campaign heroes too fast. Why? Because the game's AI is very easy in order to attract casual players, so if you are a more experienced gamer then try to always keep your level under the enemies of the map you are currently exploring because this way the game remains challenging and interesting. Fights may last longer but you have more time to experiment with using the ultimates of each hero. Only when you feel like the enemies are too strong you should invest a few levels, but if you wanna have fun try to stay at least 5 levels under the enemies of the map. 2. Only in pve modes can you manually cast ultimates. So try to keep it on manual and experiment with all the ultimates often, it will give you a tactical advantage. In pvp modes everything is auto cast so you can only watch. 3. When you go to your house tavern to recruit heroes, ALWAYS save 10 or more envelopes because if you use 10 at a time you get a guaranteed epic or better hero. You will find many envelopes by just playing the campaign and various bonus modes and claiming all your rewards at the end of a play session. The game is very generous with heroes, so if you spend only 10 at a time, you get a better chance to pull a hero and not just increase your winter nut collection. 3. Try all the heroes. This is a no brainer but i have to encourage it. After you get a few good hero pulls you will have a few more than 10 heroes so just try them out, carefully read the ability tooltips (there is a button on the ability tooltip that expands to full description. If you want to know exactly how much damage a spell does, activate this always). This way you will find your fav compositions and use heroes to combo well with each other. 4. Always upgrade gear. even if you choose to keep your heroes underlevelled or not, make sure you visit your armory often (on the hero upg icon) and keep your gear up to date. You find a lot of gear from opening chests on the map and also from the afk mode reward chests. Start your day by opening all the rewards first, then equip new items and heroes and then go on your adventure. 5. Use the map often. In the top right corner there is a minimap. If you tap on it you can pop open a large map and see where all the treasures and objectives are. I recommend you get used to the map and do the chests first to upg your gear for the harder enemies later in the map. On the large map you can also teleport to any waypoint if you want to get there fast, but i recommend walking. 6. Try to walk on foot everywhere. Sometime you find these tiny shinies in the bushes that contain small amounts of any resource. These respawn every day so you will always have them peppered in the world. If you walk to your objectives you will find them more often. Exploration has its own rewards. Sometime you will find side quests that give nice rewards and are quick. 7. HAVE FUN! The point of AFK journey is THE JOURNEY not the destination. Learn at your own pace, experiment with different team comps and enjoy your trip through Esperia! :)

@@mirayaki6509 i've been playing for like three days and heres what i got. pros: - very f2p friendly, all units can be acquired and leveled up as you play - art direction and story is very nice and charming - most of the p2w stuff is tame so far, surprisingly cosmetics are the most expensive in the game lol - you can send out invites for help on hard stages and people can lend a unit or join themselves - main quests are intriguing enough cons: - it's got a lot of diff mechanics that take a while to learn and then they just drop a new mode right after you do - its a bit of a grind (though not really if you are taking advantage of the AFKing) - some features like guilds don't seem to have much use so far - some side quests are really good but the other 75% are trash overall its got a very good start and I think it has a bright future ahead of it so long as they keep the game from becoming pay to win as so many gacha games are.

Downloaded the game a couple of games ago, and honestly, the artstyle and animations look amazing. The game also throws a lot of currency at you, so like after two days of playing I already have a few characters I really like, which is definitely nice. I do enjoy the combination of the QOL stuff, like the autopathing and generalised equipment per class system, those are very nice to have on mobile, and the world design where you can wonder around with relative freedom. Wishlist gacha also does sweeten the feel of the casino, for me for sure. The character dialogue and interactions are a big highlight too. I can only suggest playing with lower setting to save battery. Overall I think this is a great mobile game. p.s. just for clarification, I`d like to add that I am not a bot, and I was not sponsored. I am genuinely very positively surprised by this game and can easily recommend to try it out

Coming into this game, I actually have to say my only complaint is that the gear is shared between units. It's a cool idea to keep it simple by sharing gear, but it heavily neuters the idea of builds and gameplay variety by not allowing us to brainstorm cool gear sets with specific characters. If there were specific gear items or sets that, for example, gave bonus damage for each unit on the board, then you would be encouraged to use them when playing with Summoner type characters. Similarly, if there was a gear set that gave your character energy whenever they healed a unit, obviously you'd throw that on a support. I think losing out on that fun build variety to keep things accessible works detrimentally towards the game. If they at least had an extra gear slot or set per character that let you give them unique items or artifacts like Genshin, it would pay forward hugely for the game's long term health.

if you're running it on laptop with 2 graphics cards please check if afk journey is automatically running on your integrated one. mine did it, switching to my nvidia card helped a lot. also in the settings make sure not to choose unlimited fps, set it for 60 or 30

No you just need to play the game, and come back daily since there's a time limit (that grows by doing archiervements) But if you want to save pogress, i recomend you to save your account in case you have luck or good items and characters, not everyone is lucly to pull Rowan or even Thoran in their account, soo, it's better beware
