Probably my favorite pattern is the new 1-1 that shows up at 13:33. The top 1 says there's one in 2 cells, and the bottom says there's one in 5, so the bottom 3 are free. Often there's another 1, so you get a nice 2x3 behind a wall of pairs. That and solving an apparent corner 2x2 50-50 with a mine count of 1.

I learned how to play mine sweeper on my own. Trial and error, learning how some of the patterns work on my own. I just randomly figured out how to play in class one day, and when anyone sees me play I have to explain to them. It’s 2023. I didn’t know how mine sweeper worked back then so I understand, but explaining it over and over sucks 😭

Is there like an offline version of/alternative to World of Minesweeper? The closest I've found is Simon Tatham's version, but there's still luck involved on that sometimes.

From what I know, there should never be luck involved in Simon Tatham's version. If you're looking for an offline PC alternative, arbiter is the most used original minesweeper clone, from what I know (Although missing some quality of life stuff IMO). If you're looking for no guess, I'm not sure for PC. There's a couple of mobile apps that you can get to play offline and with no guess, if that interests you

As a minesweeper enjoyer and holder of a 29 second normal run in the google version, I can say that if you want to speed run this game to any capacity, sometimes luck is unavoidable as otherwise you would spend too much time figuring out logic. It’s rough, but that’s just the minesweeper life.

You want to find an opening to start the game, which means all of the surrounding cells have to be a non-mine. Clicking in the corner means there's only 3 chances to be a mine, compared to clicking in the middle for example where there would be 8
