Its insanely beautiful. I looked up the art director who is Ayumi Kojima. They have a very impressive portfolio having worked on Unlimited Blade Works, Spy Family and God Eater. It is no surprise this shows looks really amazing with that much experience in good art at the helm. I cant wait to see what else this season has in store for us! - Red

2:25 “Yo, can we call in the feudal lord?” Actually, Tokiyuki is the highest ranking person here… he’s higher than a feudal lord (daimyo 大名), Tokiyuki was heir to be regent (shikken 執権) to the (Minamoto) Shogun. The Hojo family were puppet masters of the shoguns during the Kamakura period (after the first two Minamoto Shoguns). 10:42 “That freakin’ ball transition from the first episode was so GOATed.” Agreed. 12:03 I don’t think the brother is coming back. This story is based on historical events. I don’t know if the manga deviates from history, but if it doesn’t, yeah, there’s no way the brother is alive. That being said, they do have some funky magical shenanigans going on, like Suwa Yorishige being able to see into the future and introducing anachronistic elements like the Game of Life and dice. Historical trivia: when Nitta Yoshisada and Ashikaga Takauji attacked Kamakura, the Hojo clan (870 of them) locked themselves up in their family temple of Toshoji, committed ritual suicide and burned the temple down. Later, under orders of Emperor Go-Daigo, Ashikaga Takauji had the remains from the temple moved to the temple Hokaiji in Kamakura, and that temple was dedicated to the souls of the Hojo clan. You can visit this temple if you visit Kamakura. On the grounds is a statue of Hojo Takatoki, father of our protagonist, Takayuki.

For your talking point on 12:03 I do think you may end up being correct. I could certainly be reading too much into it. Theres something about seeing someone in a mask that just triggers my brain lol. Like what are you hiding under there. Im gonna feel like a dickhead if the mask comes off and its just burn marks or something of the character 😔 Im still trying to figure out the direction that this show is going though so Im looking forward to seeing more cause i think more hints will be revealed here soon as we move along. Appreciate the trivia as well. It is interesting to see these kinds of shows that are inspired by real events and how they choose to play them out and what deviations occur. - Red
