Absolutely the best breast feeding video I have ever seen. I am going to save this video and recommend to every friend or family member who gets pregnant in the future.

In the first few weeks, you should wake a baby if they don’t wake up in 4hours. Usually babies will wake up by 4hrs but some situations make babies more sleepy...like jaundice. I’ve admitted many babies with dehydration because “never wake a sleeping baby”. I absolutely agree with introducing bottles early if you plan to do both. And I encourage both... because of the reasons you’ve stated. I’ve had too many moms getting “stuck” with a baby that won’t feed from a bottle. I’ve had moms in tears because they haven’t been able to leave their baby in months. I’ve never seen nipple confusion.

Breastfeeding was SO stressful for me...I managed to do it for 9.5 months, but MAN was it the hardest part of parenting for me. I had supply issues, and he was teeny tiny and needed a lot to get up to speed. Thankfully he took a bottle right away, but the pressure and mom guilt that this is something I "can do if I want to, I just need to put in the work" made me feel SO GUILTY and it's absurd. I had medical reasons that my milk struggled, and I still fell under this pressure. At 9.5 months my sweet boy was waking up 5-6 times a night, and I was going several days on literally no sleep until I'd ultimately just crash, and it was so dangerous and unhealthy. I wish I would have stopped listening to the mom-guilting army and listened to my body more...I'm so damn proud of what I was able to do, but man...You are amazing for doing this video!

I am 11 months in to my breastfeeding journey and I wish I had this video before! I just sent it to a friend that’s due in a few months. THANK YOU THANK YOU for addressing ties! My son had tongue and lip. Our pediatrician said he didn’t need it fixed! I would cry in pain. His release has made things soooo much better! We went to a pediatric dentist because they use a laser and we preferred that method.

I agree 100% with you about introducing a bottle much much sooner than "experts" suggest. When I waited I had a hell of a time getting baby to take a bottle. I introduced one much earlier with my second and third and it was such a better experience. If you're worried about baby getting confused then use pace feeding. Pace feeding mimics breastfeeding more so baby doesn't get a ton of milk to quick. I don't believe nipple confusion is necessarily an issue. It's more so that baby gets milk much easier from a bottle when you don't pace feed that they get frustrated then when it takes longer to get milk at the breast. This is when they may tend to reject the breast. Pace feeding is a big help with that. I never woke my babies up at night either. My second child slept all night from birth and she was fine.

I love that you bring up lip and tongue ties!!!! Our daughter had them and they went undiagnosed. However with our son he also had a lip tie but was diagnosed almost immediately! That’s one reason I love our pediatrician because he caught it super early and he actually diagnoses them so much he now does them in his office.

My son was born 6 weeks early due to emergency c section so I couldn't breastfeed right away. My milk supply came in 4 days pp. But because he was preemie, so I had to pump for the first 2 weeks pp. After that I could breastfeed. But because my son was bottle fed breast milk for his first 2 weeks. I had to go to a lactation consultant to help him latch. But now he is 9 months old and latches great! And he also drinks bottles of breast milk.

Thank you so much!!! With my first baby, I had no idea what I was doing breastfeeding wise. I thought it would all come naturally to me but I was very wrong. I always felt so guilty for not doing more research about it because my breastfeeding journey with him was not what I had hoped it would be. I am pregnant again and promised myself I would do the proper research this time around and have a better experience with my new baby. This video was sooooo helpful. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the information you read on the internet..but this simplified it..and I actually feel like I have a good grasp on what I should do and how I can give my body the best chance to have the breastfeeding journey I dream of. Thank you!!

I feel like there are a lot of professionals that say babies will have nipple confusion, but really what happens is if baby isn’t pace fed (slow flow nipple, holding the bottle as parallel to the ground as possible with baby sitting up, should take about 15-20 minutes for them to finish the bottle) they’ll develop a bottle preference because the milk comes out of the bottle faster/easier than the breast. From what I’ve read this can be especially common with babies who have ties because they have to work so much harder to get milk out of the breast.

My babes seemed to cluster feed (have a growth spurt) every three weeks or so. And for first-timers, or those who find it uncomfortable, please make sure your baby is facing you when they latch on. If they are facing up and have to turn their head to feed, they won't get a proper latch and it can cause pain or cracked nipples for mom, and yes that is as bad as it sounds. Just put baby's tummy facing your tummy and your positioning should be fine. La Leche League is a wonderful resource for questions and in some areas, they even have support groups for moms. Nice video, Lex!

Currently pregnant with my second and WISH I would've found this video when I had my first. I was so uneducated and ended up switching to formula before baby #1 turned a month old. The hand pump is similar to what we had back in the day. It was called a bicycle horn pump. It looks just like a bicycle horn. To pump you squeeze it like a bicycle horn. Or attach it as you said. It's funny how things make a comeback. The hoocha and manual pump does look like a high grade to what I had but it's nice to have a way to catch the liquid gold. I was told to just put a cloth diaper to catch the milk it so you don't get soaked. I never did that as it was nutrition not for a burp cloth. Most important doesn't matter how you feed your baby, just feed your baby. I'm a momma to 8 and let each baby lead me. Great video.

I wish I had this 2 years ago. I had the hardest time starting to breastfeed. I got the wrong advice from nurses in the beginning. I got you need to feed your baby every 4 hours and dont feed just because. You have to wait the 4 hours. After 4 months of struggling I finally found a doctor that would listen to me on the tongue tie. That was cut and it completely changed both of our lives.

This is such a great video! I'm going to refer to this when I'm expecting baby #2. I had to exclusively pump because she wouldn't latch. I am so proud I made it to 4 months exclusively pumping. We found out at her 1 year dental appt she had a lip tie. I had a jut feeling this was the case but I trusted the pediatrician since I'm a first time mom. So let's just say we switched pediatric offices and I love who we are with now. She is a Lactation Consultant as well. If I still think something is up I will got to a pediatric dentist. So I feel like I'll be set and very successful at BF my next baby.

Also if you do get a deep freezer, as I did because I exclusively had to pump. Put your milk bags in gallon ziplock bags, 2 things happen, 1st it’s a double insulation (helping the milk stay frozen in the event that someone leaves the freezer door open, or the power goes out) and 2nd it helps stack all the milk in a great organizing manner.

Worth of watching for every mom who wants to breastfeed for the first, second or third time ❤️ I'm feeding my 3 yr old, currently expecting second baby, still got so many tips even though I thought I know so much. With some things I would argue a little 😊 but in general great info and quality you provided! Great job!

Thank you for mentioning the bottle thing. With my first I was so frustrated and full of anxiety bc we waited bc of the lactation lady and my son would not take a bottle. He refused a bottle until he was like 10 months. It was so stressful on not only me but my husband bc he felt so left out when it came to feeding.

What kind of nursing bras or bras would you say are best? I love how encouraging you are! I literally cried. My pregnancy hormones are on a whole new level! I am saving this video! I have always struggled with breastfeeding and usually make it to the 3 month mark and I feel like I dry up after that. This is my 5th baby and I am determined to keep breastfeeding!

This is a great video, this is my third baby (due in January) I had my first two back to back. My first i breastfeed for 3 days I was very overwhelmed and knew nothing my hospital didn’t help me and neither did drs. My second I breastfeed for 5 weeks but I supplemented with supplemental formula and it caused a lot of digestive issues I think plus she had a lip tie and tongue tie they clipped her tongue tie but they didn’t want to do her lip tie till she was 6 months old so I ended up just giving up. I’m trying to figure out everything I can before I have this baby so I can be successful and this video taught er me a lot of what I didn’t know about pumping and freezing milk
