Great channel, but I bought the cage based upon your review and found similar problems as previous commenters. Just an FYI for others considering buying this cage: The cage prevents changing filters on drop-in adapters. It ads significant bulk if you want to use it on a gimbal. I had to extend my adjustments to the max to get it to fit on the Ronin S. Also, it covers up button 8 on the top of the camera. And the main reason I bought it was for port protection. With the port protector on there (also from Smallrig), it prevents using the mic and headphone jacks. One final thing, the screws to attach the port protector and the top slide-in eyelet tabs tend to strip out with the provided hex tool. Good reviews and tips. Keep up the good work.

How long does the battery grip give the R5C when recording video at 4k?
@Drunken_Pil0t2 жыл бұрын
I was able to do about 1 hr 20 mins non-stop shooting with the battery grip on my R5c. for wedding ceremonies and receptions, I'll attach a NanoOne v mount battery to last all day

Need some help. I have the R5 and get almost 47 minutes pro res raw recording on a 500 GB SSD on Ninja V+. Using the same settings (cropped/Super 35) with the R5C I’m getting only about 27 minutes. Same settings. Am I doing something wrong? Love your channel.

If I remember correctly the R5 shoots cropped 5k ProRes raw over hdmi and the r5c shoots cropped 5.9k ProRes raw over hdmi. The extra resolution would explain the larger file sizes!

Does it work w/ the regular R5 with Grip

Hmm thought about getting it but can't mount it vertically, like a L plate.

Thanks for this great review. I have a question. The cage is built for not only R5C but also R5 (which I have) and R6 with battery grip. The only other review on KZbin for this cage is for use with the R5, and the guy says that one of the "pressure blocks" to be inserted into the "eyelets" on either side is too big enough for the eyelet (the one on the left when the lens is pointed away from you). Have you found that to be a problem? Thanks again.

Cool, But my question would be… would you have to disassemble the cage to switch batteries?
@DeafDirector2 жыл бұрын
Nope. The battery slide slips in and out from the BG-R10 battery grip with no problem whatsoever.I demonstrate the battery change at 4:51 in the video. Have a great day!

Does this cage also have the problem lime other small rig cages that makes the lenses hard to remove ?

Looks great, other than the 3 hard mounts, does the cage rub or contact any other part of the body? Just curious if putting it on might have unanticipated contact damage? Also with the strap points of contact, are they metal? Do they scratch up the strap mounts? Thank you!

Hi, Have you tried BG-R20 and R5 C with this cage by any chance? Was wondering if it fits/works with R5 C. Would really like your thoughts on this matter.

I personally found the Small Rig cage marked my camera. I haven't used it since (the cage) and haven't used one on my second R5C. Real shame. Has anyone else found the same? Wondered if Tilta cage might be better?

One con is you cannot change filters with the cage on if you are using the Canon drop in adapter. But this con applies to all cages.

I've read reviews stating the HDMI protector from small rig blocks the mic and headphones port? Why not use the cable protector that came in the box with the camera or does that not fit with the cage installed?
@DeafDirector2 жыл бұрын
I often use my mic and headphones port with no problem on this cage. Just make sure you open the flap as you are installing the cage. The reason why i prefer the SmallRig cable protector over the one that comes with the camera (which works fine, by the way) is simply a question of robustness. The screw that connects the "in the box" cable protector is very long and thin, and I have ended up snapping them off twice. I have beaten the tar out of my SmallRig HDMI protector for years, with no problem. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

Seasons greetings. Do you know if the new LP-E6P battery work in the grip and still supply enough power for 8k 60fps from the grip?
@jonathanhatting522822 күн бұрын
You’ll need to purchase the BG-R20 grip instead of the R10 to support the new E6P batteries

Do you know if it's possible to mount a handgrip (like the Wooden one) on the right side of the cage (opposite the HDMI ports)?

Do you know by any chance of this cage will fit my Canon 90D with the battery grip?
@DeafDirector2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, but cages tend to be pretty tightly designed to specific body types, so I would think this would not fit on a 90D. Have a great day!

Can you shoot 8Kp60 with the R10 grip, or do you still need external power?

BS "it will never fall out". I lost my little key the second time using it - after I even double checked it in secure. Don't "run and gun" with that thing!

Do you think this cage will scratch/damage the strap eyelets (ou the plastic around them) in any way? I would think that a rubber pad incorporated into the cage would make this whole things safer in this regard... What do you think?

I found it marked my camera in two places on the corners. Agree about cushioning. I haven't used it since.

After researching the rigidity of the different cages, Kondor Blue beats them all hands down.
