Also seen a lot of my more casual guildies working on legendaries - especially where people aren't so keen on the saga. Worth noting though that maps like drizzlewood drown you mats and has clover achievements (that are repeatable). Not that its too cost efficent, Anet also added legendary gifts to two of the Saga weapon collections (Bolt and Frostfang). Maybe they planned on a few more of these?

I came back to the game last September and one of the things that kept me was deciding to work on finishing my Meteorlogicus that I started like 4 years ago. Found lots of niche content I have no memory of doing before. Then I thought i'd extend that drive by going back and working on old LW achievements for core MP, and that repetitive failure quickly killed a lot of my motivation for the game. :s

What I would like in the next expansion is a way that you can get legendary armor from fractals that can stand worthy across the raid one, with a legendary battle stance. They can inspired from the design of legendary backpiece that you can get from doing fractals. There is a big piece of the community that they can't get into raids, because they aren't in a raiding guild with friends that they have the patience to wait until you have the skills to go through raids

Not trying to gatekeep progression here, I mean you play however you want. But thats kinda bad.... Just doing daily achievements alone (which takes like 5 minutes) for 8 years is enough to afford atleast 4 legendaries If you wish to craft multiple legendary sets, I highly recommend doing daily tasks such as: fractals, crafting, alt parking, achievements, home gathering, pact supply run etc. It can take less than 20 minutes per day of easy tasks to accumulate quite a heap of gold. And it really adds up fast. For example I make around 20 gold~ per day with my routine, which is 140g per week, which is 560g per month etc. You really don't have to grind the same meta mindlessly for hours on end to make gold. I haven't heard any updates since they announced that they were thinking about implementing an "armory" system that would allow you to copy legendaries to alts. I'd absolutely love a full set of legos for that reason alone, but after I made The Flameseeker Prophecies several years ago I just don't have the time or motivation to do aaalll that stuff again...

The PVP Amulet is really interesting because you can do it at the same time as the Backpiece. So the PVP ranked wins are super valuable for your progress.

I’m working through all the trinkets first as I can’t decide what class to do for the armor. As I play most of the classes the fear of picking the wrong one is always there

This makes me desperately want to pursue full legendary and then depressed as hell cause first off, only one set is actually legendary (besides the tendrils on the chest, the PvP and WvW are exactly the same as ascended variants). And then the raid set isn't terribly accessible, it's locked behind the hardest part of the game. Lots of people argue that raiding in GW2 isn't that hard, but it is to people who are based in GW2 not everyone played WoW raids for 7 years before GW2 added theirs, for a lot of people it really is the most challenging content they've encountered. Not to mention the true block, which isn't a challenge of skill or commitment (in fact this armor is pretty decent with the timegating), the true problem is the toxic raiding groups. Now I'm not saying it's entirely impossible to become a raider, but I've been trying on and off since the first wing was added to get into it full swing and every time I've never gotten further in than a boss kill or two due to toxic people. These days, it's hard to even find a group in LFG, you *have* to join a guild. Which isn't so bad I suppose, this is GUILD wars we're talking about. But I think all this certainly makes a fair argument at least that there should be another, uniquely legendary, armor set for pve. I'd like to stress PVE here, not RAIDS. Generalize PvE, meaning just about everything short of raids.

@@deadz0ne42 It does reflect skill because to buy enough raid clears to get the armor and trinket would be such an ungodly amount of money, probably over 10K. And can you even buy tournament wins for the pvp trinket? I think the current set is great for the reason you said, it demonstrates mastery of the full game. However, the issue is there aren't enough *options* if you want a full trinket set but dont care about the specific orbs, you just want something, you HAVE to play pvp tournaments, one of the most niche and toxic aspects of the game, very difficult to get into now (i've been trying for months to get those 20 wins). if we had another legendary amulet that would be ok but since it's the only option, it's really shitty of anet. The same can be said of armor - yeah there are two other sets but they arent really legendary, they share their skins with the ascended versions (except the chest with the tendrils). if you want a TRULY legendary armor set, you have to get into the hardest, most niche, most toxic aspect of the game and do it *150* times. Again, if there was perhaps a general pve armor, or even a pvp/wvw one that was actually unique, it would be ok because people who hate raids can just ignore it. But because this is your only option to get armor that actually shows off it's legendary, it's an incredibly shitty move from anet. It's all about options, options, options. If you could obtain full legendary without being made to stray into hellishly toxic modes like raids and tournaments, we'd all be fine and happy. the stuff we have now could be a combination of legendaries meant to demonstrate full mastery of the game, while other people can choose to use a different mixing of legendaries. Say, all legendary gear that shows off mastery of pve and maybe a little of the competitive modes. The way it is now throws ambitious players into the deepest water possible and asks them to swim while someone holds their head underwater. It's not 100% impossible, but pretty fucking close. All I want is more options

Congratz on your legendary set WP! I'm currently working on my fourth legendary (already have Ascension, Aurora and Vision), so your video was pretty inspiring. However, I'm currently working on Conflux and kind of hating it because of how many hours I need to spend in a game mode I really don't like. I'm kind of hoping they add alternative versions for the ring and the amulet via PvE tbh (even if I end up getting Conflux). I don't want to have to go back to sPvP for another legendary... especially with the current state of the mode with all the hackers and whatnot.

My feeling is that with the coming years, they are going to add alternative method of acquiring those items. As of right now, only pvp can provide an amulet. Well, maybe Icebrood Saga will have one associated to it, just like other living world seasons had trinkets.

I am currently working on both Vision and Aurora collections and I have to say I agree with you WP. Vision I feel is fairly easy and very forgettable based on what I've done so far, but Aurora has been a blast. Especially since I haven't been in the LS3 maps in so long and the collection really requires you to go through them. Working on my legendary armor and trinkets has really fueled my drive the play the game and has forced me to experience a lot of content I essentially missed. I really recommend others to work on that stuff, even if it's just gradually.

Wow. I had no idea there were legendary runes and sigils in the game. Guess that happened while I wasn't paying attention! The functionality of the runes is amazing though. I also hadn't heard about the Legendary Armoury. That DEFINITELY makes me want to get more weapons. After 8 years I'm finally getting serious about completing my first legendary, The Colossus. I'm just down to collecting T6 matts! I hadn't even thought of this as a long-term goal, and it really appeals to me. Vision seemed really easy for me as well. I think it's because the biggest timegates for the item was locked behind getting the Requiem armor set and the Skyscale mount... both items you would most definitely go for while playing Season 4. Once you got them, you basically only had the Kourna Commander's Banner to do, which was not too hard as well. Aurora's quests where more out of the way and so you most probably didn't complete it on your first playthrough with Season 3.

I was thinking about crafting legendary armor for cosmetic reasons but didn't really want to engage yet. When the armory thing comes, that gives me an additional reason to do it. So when Dusk is finished I immediately hop onto doing the armor next. I like that very much.

It is my dream to have an option in settings to turn off other players glow effects from equipment and mounts. I know it's unlikely but man my enjoyment of the game would skyrocket. Can we talk about the fact that they straight up didn'T bother putting the search bar for runes/sigils in when you put them into ascended gear, making them basicly impossible to use effeciently. This way runes/sigils can never be a first goal to maybe swap your slaying sigil or so around because you first need legendary items to put them in or theyre a big chore to get use out of.

Have Anet talked about the secenario of having two identical legendaries and how will that work with the legendary armory? Having two frost fangs, or two quips would be redundant? Will just having one frost fang allow you to equip it to both off hand and main hand slots? Or will you need to have two frost fangs to equip in both slots?

If you still don't know, Legendaries are "free" skins, meaning once unlocked you can freely transmute it onto any appropriate gear So, once frostang is unlocked, both hands can wield it assuming both hands have an axe as for draw & step effects, main hand takes priority

@@Konpekikaminari this is incorrect, legendaries in general are free to swap the skin, meaning you don’t need a transmutation charge. Ascended axe needs to use a transmutation charge to add the frost fang skin. My question was originally directed at the function of the legendary armory, not the transmutation charge function. The legendary armory can hold duplicates of legendary axes and can hold a maximum of 4 legendary axes. So the correct answer to my previous question would be having two frost fangs or two quips would NOT be considered redundant IF you play a class can can wield both legendary duplicates at the same time, example: pistol/pistol thief or axe/axe warrior.

Thought on legendary armory. They might for progress sake decide to lock the new stat combos in the various expansions until you hit either a certain story step or have acquired gear with that stat set. or maybe just encountered the vendor that sells the stat/rune/sigil for the first time. That way you have to do more than just purchase the expacs to get the stats runes and sigils of that expac in the Armory

That's unlikely because right now you can have only core/f2p game and have HoT and PoF stats available to you on your gen 1 legendaries. Also if you play WvW on f2p account you can have legendary armor/backpiece/rings with stats available only in expansions. So technically if you have full legendary character you will have access to all new stats without buying expansion and that's the feature not mentioned much. However you will not have access to new specs obviously.

I like the idea of legendary infusions that add even mored visual noise, and add some noise to runes and sigils (something with the rune symbols floating around you). The infusion could be something like a red carpet following your character (that weapon footsteps are on top off), and make it so each new infusion makes the carpet ever so slightly longer or something like that. Then a full legendary character just screams look at me you peasants.

Just a quick nitpick: Runes of Leadership are pretty easy to get through WvW (and at half the gold cost, too). But obviously the overriding aspect remains, and there's plenty of other runes (e.g. the dungeon ones like Monk and Nightmare) that are likewise a pain to grind out every single time

Very Interesting Video. Its true that the legendary armory is the feature tan can help legendary armor the best. The difference about Aurora and Vision is something that happened to a lot of players and mostly it was because when aurora was launched nobody was expecting the item (I remembered that mystic coins skyrocket in price because aurora, people doing legendaries for the POF specs, and also the fear that most LS3 maps where going to be abandoned after pof launch.. ) For Vision was different, most players alredy where doing the grindy archivements...before vision started. So maybe the 40% was done before launch. Moreover vision was tied heavily with the Skycale. They where the same path. I am not against raiding, pvp or mvm (I am doing Pvp for my legend armor and Wvw for the Trinket) But the game can offer a variant of PVE open world Legend Armor that its very difficult to get. For example... We have lots of armor, weapons collections That can be tied for this. Dungeoneer for example. Also some heavy currency in metas or multiple map completions. If a normal Legendary Armor could take 5-6 months in average in Hard try player.. Open World had to be like 1 year.

Raiding is hard when the looking for group page is filled with “250li 100kp” groups, I can’t have that many if I can’t raid with them, get kicked without any communication and makes it frustrating to try and get legendary armour as a solo player/pug

This actually made me think - what would a perfect/legendary account look like - probaply all 9 classes, different races so that you have played all the story... map completion for all 9 charackters and then full legendary armor (as much as possible) - I think that's actually a nice goal for spending a lot of time in GW2

One thing to emphasize is that the benefits come from having multiple *equipment* templates unlocked on each character not build templates as it requires the distinction to which, quite honestly, ArenaNet has arguably over priced and underestimated it's values. In PvE there's an assumed standard of Power, Condi and support build for a particular profession and that is ignoring variants within specific elite specializations (example: for elementalist, there's power weaver, condi weaver, power tempest, heal tempest, condi tempest). Even if you assume 3 as a maximum, the same or similar exists in WvW. Now you're already capped on equipment templates for the class after only looking through 2 game modes. When it comes to PvP, certain weapons are going to be more used and in different combinations to WvW and PvE which while there's no particular *armor* requirement for a pvp build, the weapons need to line up with a WvW or a PvE one to consider that you "have" an actual overlapping template for PvP; otherwise you're still going to be technically short one. This problem is actually exacerbated by the fact that to *get* legendary gear you're expected to play all three modes to some effect (gift of battle in particular is a major factor with gift of glory, gift of war being slightly mitigatable considering the currency to purchase them is tradeable). Say for instance that you end up finding a build or mode you particularly enjoy but don't play it frequently. You're not able now to keep equipment templates for that loadout which ultimately forces a player into making a choice to sacrifice an equipment template slot; and especially in a game that promotes altaholism or at least having one of every class, this has an opposite effect that is desired for legendary armor. All of these issues will partially go away with legendary armory but if and only if they also make the legendary armory reflect transmutation changes.

There is SOOO much potential with a legendary armory particularly with people who want to feel complete. Going full legendary will have long term ticklists for people that will have you get into multiple modes and for a significant amount of time. Especially for those classic MMO players. Yes, i know a lot is a material sink s and it doesnt necessarily mean you have knowledge on the game, but i imagine you the reasonable amount of time spent in each mode would give you perspective about what is involved in gw2. I feel the armory should come in sections to be expanded upon over time. A separate armory unlocks panel somewhere across the account would be nice. Basic function i see it working like we have have with regular gear, click on a weapon slot, it shows all your weapons in your bags and other equipment slots. Interesting that you would need some form of account bag though. Usually when you unequip an item not in any of your templates, it returns to your bags. They've got some interesting things to think about with legendarys here. Will they allow us to "withdraw" a legendary. Maybe it knows which is your original legendary on your account and this is the only one withdrawable. What happens to my other templates on my account if i upgrade the trinket? Think about it, my characters could have Slumbering Trinkets, or Twilight / Sunrise.... What would happen if i want to upgrade these to the effects version or Eternity? Can i take it out on another character? Will this mean theres cloning opportunities? Will upgrading this automatically update it on alts? Does it delete them on other characters and they would need to re-gear? From a UI point of view, i can see it similar to the current gear on : they might have your account vault show all the armory unlocks but when on a character it could filter it to only gear you can equip. I think they can add feature incrementally here. I do think some of these could also tack on to Cosmetic loadouts. Similar to how we have a little pvp helmet. What if a Equipment Template Tab has the option to show a cosmetic slot by every individual tabs. We can have a tickbox to override your current items look. The old wardrobe system is still in place. You can perma transmute a skin and it will maintain this look between where you put it. The system i propose essentially is the idea of an overrideable outfit. This will be per equipment tab as such. This might even make equipment slots more intciing to buy (even to people who dont care for the equipment gearing side of the game but more fashion wars). You would have 6 hotswappable custom outfits! (keep in mind they can be keybinded too). With cosmetic slots tied to equipment slots it also means theyre not now quardruple dipping on monetisation. This could later also lead to share-able equipment templates. As currently this is only on builds. It would be nice to be able to save a general template for this gear. Theres a lot of complications on saving equipment, maybe it is more about best estimate on the stat and find nearest match in inventory. Perhaps a template has a tick on loading / saving... i want to save the stats, look, dye combos? who knows... I still dream of them giving equipment templates, having each slot have a cosmetics button (similar to the pvp icon). We can give unique looks on each individual equipment item, maybe add a tickbox to override your current gear. Its like your own customizable outfits. (might even make people buy equipment tabs). It might also solve some issues with gear, is it the same gear across all cahracters? How does it handle culturual armor? This system could also lead into the option of loadable gear templates or looks (maybe tickboxes to save dyes, skins, stats). Would be nice if we have equipment templates where they could make a best guess at your saved build. For the small few who have 9 sets of armor already, not that they need consolation. They do actually get value. An armory is limittied by your equipment tabs. What if you want another equipment setup? Your additional armors can still be used for additional builds (just click through your inventory), it could have a unique look for you too so theres atleast that. I do wonder though.... My original legendary armor was from WvW. I later got raid armor, what if people aren't incentivized to play raids if they already have legendary armor? .... Atleast give people a legendary collection reward for each mode. The trinkets, i wasn't a big fan of how they handled releasing the PVP/WVW trinkets and how the effect doesn't tier up. But... the way they've done it has opened the doors for further legendaries. Perhaps a Saga trinket for strikes, DRMs and currencies? As much as i hate the visual clutter.... i admit it would look pretty sick to see a player with a solar system around them. Maybe mimicking "The All" from Omadd's machine. Proof that you've seen everything gw2 has to offer. I do love the idea of a legendary back that lets you select to invisible bag / crafting bag etc. They could do a really cool quest for this. Maybe link it to Cantha and the Xunlai?

one thing they could do as an animation/visual for a legendary is to change like the heal skill animation. the weapons change the visual of some skills mainly the projectiles effect why not have one that changes the heal skill visual. you use the heal enough that you will see the change but its also not omnipresent. just an idea.

I dunno man WP, im busy with wvw legendary armor... its a real grind, the armor doesnt look all that flashy but i just want to be able to swap stats. i would like it if every piece of legendary armor/trinket/weapon would be available through what u want to play most, being able to go full legendary through ONLY playing wvw or pvp or pve, i really woulnd attempt to go for those pvp trinkets, thats just stressful

That has no sense, all the mount skins cost gems, if you get that legendary mount you wouldn't buy gems anymore for mount skins, and anet doesn't want that. A cool feature will be unlocking a exclusive mount skin of you complete the corresponding set (for example if you unlock all the skins from the new horizons set you get an exclusive skin)

I would never have the patience to make even just one legendary. The most I've worked for anything in GW2 was for the skyscale and I thought that was a grind. xD

I've made a bunch of legendaries, and, frankly, I felt the grind for the skyscale far more acutely. Part of it may be that I really got into the stories implied by the earlier weapons and I my imagination wasn't captured by the skyscale, but I definitely found the weapons easier. More expensive, though.

@@tsbulmer I don't really know of course since I haven't made any legendaries, but my impression was that you need to farm gold, materials and play a bunch of pvp and raids. I don't really want to do either of those things. Skyscale felt mostly like doing some obectives and then repeat map activities, which gets repetitive but I still enjoy somwhat. Maybe it's just that the skyscale was more one step at a time, while a legendary feels like a huge complex list of things to do. Just my impression though. x)

There are ways to shorten the grind substantially lol (for instance using boosters for reward tracks etc.) also, time spent efficiently...it’s really easy to get side tracked in GW2 with all of the different things that you have to acquire to craft legendaries. If you step back and look at everything and see the things you can combine into a single effort and maximize your time it’s not so bad. Focus on one thing, get it done and move to the next
