For new Boxer owners, please be patient. These creatures need a lot of attention and love in the beginning. They must have routine exercise. It pays off 10 fold in the end. It is so sad to me to see so many Boxers in dog pounds. Some people buy these cute adorable puppies and just throw them in their back yard forget about them and then wonder why their dog has behavior problems. They are extremely social, and may be the most loyal dog you can have. Just remember, they didn't choose you, you chose them. I was lucky enough to have one of the best ones I could ever dream of for 10 great years, Dexter. As my kids were growing up, he would sleep in the hallway between their rooms as if he were looking out for them. If we had guests over he would always stand or sit in front of my wife until they left. My wife never realized it until I pointed it out to her. He passed in his sleep very peacefully about a year ago. RIP Dexy.

When I was young, we had two boxers. Since, I’ve had Rottweilers. Both breeds are great and your advice applies to both, as well. People always asked how I trained my Rotties and here’s tips: Love and consistency Socialize socialize socialize Take everywhere Remember the discipline required is primarily for the master. Raising your voice, getting angry, giving a command more than once …these aren’t the dog’s responsibility. The first two years are the most important and the better job you do, it’s priceless down the road. House breaking: There’s no need for physical correction. Get the product Out!, or some equivalent enzyme cleaner. Follow the instructions. Scent posts are the markers left from going and they want to return to it. The enzymes eat the bacteria. Know when to expect the need and take the puppy outside. Before long, all scent posts will be outside. I wish this was in a public service announcement. Expect less sniffing around the floor and more sniffing at the door. The bladder is small, so it’s on the owner to monitor the dog. If done properly, it’s never the dog’s fault. No newspaper or wee wee pads are necessary. Crate training can help, but it must begin early. Anywho, I had a little time here and this is really for whoever. I respect the op and really appreciate responsible owners. ✌🏻

I just house sit/ pet sit for a family with two Boxers. I was a stranger to the dogs but they we're nice to me the whole week I watched them. I definitely felt safe in the house with them around.

My boxer Autumn did the same. When I was pregnant she followed me from room to room and any time I was in the bathroom or any room with the door closed she would stand guard right outside of the door. Hands down the best dog I have ever had. We had her also for 10 years. We got her a year before my son was born, so he was still pretty young when she died, but that bond never left him. He is 19 now and in college, he just bought his first house and of course a new boxer puppy named Summer. She is 11 weeks old.

Boxers are the best. I’ve had Cocker Spaniel, Schnauzer, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, German Shepard, Beagle ,Rottweiler and at present an English Mastiff. Their were all great but Boxer has been my favorite. They just don’t come any more well rounded. Goofy, energetic, athletic, a loving and loyal companion all rolled into one dog.

My neighbor has a Boxer, Nino, and he is the friendliest dog you ever wanna meet. He is a very playful dog and many people mistake his energy for hostility. I had a 20 pound terrier / poodle mix. Nino adored my dog Winston. They were best friends. Unfortunately Winston passed away, he was 14 years old when he went. So Ni o seems t have transferred his adoration from Winston on to me, Winston’t owner. Lol. Every time I see him he wants to play and get his ears scratched. Lol. Great dog.

I grew up with them. They are definately a perfect breed!!! Crazy playful, family oriented and also protective. Don't train them too much; only essentials. They are what they are. Disadvantage: not very suitable to be left alone; except you don't cling on your furniture, pillows etc. 🤣

I am so sorry. People keep asking if I’m going to get another. I’m still grieving for my girl. I’m sure maybe someday because a house is not a home without a Boxer. I’m not sure if I can get a small puppy, which I dearly love, because I think I’m to old for the house training. I will rescue a Boxer who needs a home and a year or two.

On German Boxer #4 with #3 around. They found a Cougar across the river and tried to drag me to the CAT! My back went down a wash board of Ice and roots until Heels dug in and called them off in German. Tulley Rue came back to give kisses but Jagger Neiche wanted that CAT!? I never dropped the leashes as this would go sideways fast. The Park Service had posted signs but we thought (Cougar in area.) was kinda funny. CooGa! Invite back to the Roost but Nope. We found a Cougar!

Once you own a boxer you can never go back. Their is a lot of human in a boxer. They are very good at being smarter than you while looking like a good ball. We have had three Jake gone 5 years ago, Bentley left us two years ago, and Diamond went home to play with them 3 months ago.

Now I have a boxer named ruger and he is dumber than an empty box he runs into walls, chases lasers, and never stops whining and crying. He always wants to go outside and he's so annoying lol. I can relate as well, when i got my current boxer whos 1 and a half it was Extremely special for me. There were some other life factors that really made it that much more amazing and special, I cant watch that clip without full on tears flowing. Tears of joy, but also sadness... I wish my father could have lived long enough to have helped me raise him, it was one of the last things he really wanted to do. I used the name my dad had chosen for if and when we were able to get one, Tiberius. My dad made sure to have at least one boxer in the house even before I was born, grew up the last 20 years with two of them. Taught me all about raising and caring for dogs, especially Boxers, with the knowledge base of an accomplished breeder. After my dad died, our last boxer passed away from old age of 11 a few months later so we were without a boxer or a dog in the house for the first time in my life. That was a lonely year until the stars aligned, a miracle happened we finally got a random lead on a litter near by that would accept what little money we had at the time when most places just too expensive or far away. I didn't think I was going to be able to find one I could actually get for another few years. I have never cried more in my entire life, just from sheer cuteness and love at 6weeks old. Im glad I took a lot of pictures and videos but man I wish I had more, but it was enough to experience it first hand. That puppy healed my broken heart from the loss of my father and a bunch of other stuff. Just from curling up on my chest to sleep while I laid in bed.
