Been smoking cubans for 6 months and by now have watched a ton about cigars in general and Cubans specifically, this is by far the most informative and interesting video I've watched about Cubans, well done Stogie Lads

Excellent video, thanks for it. "Higher priming" just means that it was picked from a higher location on the stalk, typically high viso or ligero, but yeah, it will be darker if not necessarily more aged.

Just took the time to watch through your video. I've been smoking Cuban cigars for almost 20 years. You did a great job here covering a lot of information for people to get an idea on how the Cuban cigar industry is run, brands and categories. Excellent video and Spanish by the way ! Too bad what we see in the way of pricing over the past year or so. :(

Are Cuban cigars, such as RyJ Churchill’s, short Churchill’s, wide Churchill’s, No. 1,2,3, belicosos, belvederes, Mille fleurs, or cazadores basically all the same within the brand but different sizes? Are some of them the same (taste, aroma, etc) but different sized? Or are all of these, even the Churchill’s and tubos No. variants all different profiles?
@StogieLads3 жыл бұрын
This is a very very interesting question! As with most things Habanos do, there's little to no transparency. They never actually divulge the information as to what their blends are. Now, in some cases it's very clear that the blends within the same brands are vastly different, take the Cohiba Siglo series vs the Linea Clasica for example. But with others it isn't quite as clear. The different cigars within brands like the mille fleurs and wide Churchill from RyJ for example is also very different in blend although they do generally maintain a similar flavor profile. It gets even more complicated with stuff like the Edmundo line from Montecristo where I've had double edmundos and petit edmundos that taste nothing alike but are meant to be from the same line of cigars. Is it only the vitola that changes the flavor or is it the blend? Sadly we'll probably never completely know.
@chrisladouceur40933 жыл бұрын
@@StogieLads thanks for the great reply. As a noob, I have little experience and decided to start by going through the RyJ line to see how things compare within a single brand. I’ve only tried a few so far though. I have no idea which cigars within the brand are considered higher or lower quality, as things like Mille fleur or cazadores mean nothing to me other than a different size so I’ve had to mostly base it on price. You brought up a great point too, I imagine a different vitola, even with the same blend, could greatly affect the characteristics. Guess I’ve got a lot to learn!

I am trying to get into Cuban cigars but I don’t really know where to start, checking out some websites that ship to the US show that there aren’t really a lot of sampler packs except for montefortuna. Do you have any recommendations or know of a website that sells singles/sampler packs? There are so many to try but it’s expensive buying 10-15 pack boxes
@StogieLads3 жыл бұрын
Awesome man! Yeah it’s hard to buy a box if you haven’t tried the cigar before for sure. Cuban samplers aren’t all too common because Habanos don’t do them themselves so the retailers need to assemble them and for some reason that doesn’t happen too often. @allthingscigars is a great retailer that we’ve worked with before on Instagram so if you DM them on there they can help you with samplers as I know they do them!
@rolltide_49523 жыл бұрын
@@StogieLads thanks for the reply, went ahead and ordered some montecristo no. 2’s from ihavannas, as I’ve heard great things about them, but I will definitely check them out and see!
@waleed85302 жыл бұрын
What many people don’t notice is that Cubans became so good with marketing and throwing fancy labels and bands on their cigars and sells them for much higher premiums than what’s already at. The other day I was watching Arabic cigar channel and one of guys went to El Laguito factory through a diplomatic channel (I know someone who knows someone type of situation) upon their conversation regarding the reserva and grand reserva the diplomatic delegation (Russian or Ukrainian if I recall) laughed when the guy brought up the question while on tour inside the factory and they mentioned it was simply a scam.
@StogieLads2 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah Habanos are definitely shady. It is hard to actually verify any of their promises and practices, like you say, so they easily could be lying about a lot and we would be none the wiser.

Can you recommend some legitimate companies in Europe in elsewhere that I can buy Cuban cigars at a fairly reasonable price?
@StogieLads Жыл бұрын
The best ones that ship internationally are probably EGM Cigars, FOH Cigars, iHavanas and RSVP Cigars. Prices are high though, and there’s no getting around that with Cuban cigars nowadays unfortunately.
