Update: I am currently working on another Eminem medley that is MUCH larger than I first anticipated when I started putting it together. At this point in time it is 85 songs spanning Eminem's whole career including every song in this video. This is going to be extremely long (most likely 3+ hours) so obviously I'm not going to be able to do it all in one take. I am going to have to record it in multiple parts and then edit them together. I figured this would be easier to have it all in one video rather than in separate parts/videos. This is probably going to take a while to record but I hope it will be worth the wait. Thanks again for all of the comments and support and please subscribe if you want to hear a lot more Eminem in the future as well as other piano videos!

Two very underrated aspects of Eminem's music: 1- his singing. Rarely mentioned but his singing became absolutely fantastic. Solid range, accurate pitch, unbelievable control of tone and variety of voices, consistently gorgeous tight harmonies. 2- the musical arrangements. Consistently contain emotive, beautiful chord choices and melodies, counter melodies, melodic variations and improvised feeling riffs to add depth. Not simple repeating loops like so much of hip hop, very very well constructed, well thought out arrangements.

Look I agree with you I'm not trying to come against Em he's my favorite artist but bear in mind that many of these melodies belong to other songs (e.g. Stan's refrain is Dido's song "Thank you", "Sing for the moment" from "Dream on" etc). But I will agree with you that he cares about the musical trait on his songs despite the unmelodic character of rap music.

I just accidentally removed someone's comment about Toy Soldiers but here's my reply anyway: Basically all I'm doing in the left hand is playing the same chord progression over and over but just using some arpeggios here and there. The chords are as follows: E, B, C#m, A, B, C#m. In that exact order. Google the chords and watch my hands and you'll see what I mean. I really hope this helps!
@TheUKNutter8 жыл бұрын
You're missing a chord in the progression...
@Ryan692.8 жыл бұрын
TheUKNutter Not sure which chord you mean. Sounds right to me. At least for the chorus. For the verse there might be a B chord played before the A if that's what you mean.
@TheUKNutter8 жыл бұрын
Ryan692 The chords in Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers (in the chorus) go like this: E - B - C#m - Bbdim - A - B - C#m During the last chord of the progression, you can add a D# note in the bass and a B chord on the right (B/D#) on the 4th beat, if you wanna be totally accurate. If you need help with any other songs let me know, but I can't help you with any more from this video as Like Toy Soldiers is the only Eminem song I've heard in this compilation.
@Ryan692.8 жыл бұрын
TheUKNutter Really? I think I just play a B octave instead of the Bbdim. I would think the Bb would sound dissonant but I could be wrong.

Obviously, Eminem should receive the credit, but arranging existing music in a different way is also a creative task that shouldn't be underestimated. Especially the music that wasn't initially written for piano. BTW, does Eminem write his music alone? Does he even write the music? I only know he writes the lyrics and rhythm.

He's written everything for SOME of his songs. Not nearly all of them
@jglgg74537 жыл бұрын
VioletGiraffe Em writes ALL the lyrics to every one of his tracks and has written every word of dres verses on ALL of their collabs except dres medicine man verse but he doesn't write actual musical notes. He has even written for dre on tracks Em himself isn't a part of vocally. He also makes reference tracks for dre showing him proper delivery and flow. He does produce some of his own tracks and has produced quite a bit for others and not only in the hip hop genre. If anyone ever tells you Em doesn't write every single one of his own lyrics then that person doesn't realize that all producers, anyone who wrote a sample track being used, every person that wrote a hook and every person that wrote the actual musical notes get listed in the writing credits.

It's incredible how Eminem makes the minor 4th and 7th sound like a major. I don't think musicians realise he gets us with the melody but the bass works hard.

I like that you did the entire vid without any cuts like most youtubers do. They would do 1 song, cut/edit and then append the next song. You went for the long haul and just showed them how it's really done and how to be a true savage. 10/10 man. Good job!

This video evokes all the emotions I am capable of. Extreme sadness, joy, excitement, regret, melancholy, anger, and everything in between. The rollercoaster is both invigorating and humbling, both anger stirring and calming. It is a journey into the realm of emotions that leaves me both confused and restless, but also comforted and content. It is exactly, what my mind and soul need at this very moment. Eminem, you are and always will be a legend. Thank you.

The intriguingly gorgeous display of fluid and near flawless skills that this beautiful piece consists of, brings back memories, and the emotions, that I've felt over my entire childhood whilst listening to these songs, each and every one of them, hundreds if not thousands of times... You've earned yourself a subscriber, a like, my views on the rest of your music, and a share on Facebook... And I truly feel that I still haven't done my part. Thank you, very much for this incredible video. If you had a version on iTunes, I would buy.. 'Till now I'll just have to deal with a KZbin to Mp3 conversion... regardless, you're now in my music library and "frequently-played" playlist.

I love how you've arranged the songs with intro, chorus and a bit of freedom. You put an Eminem piano cover on and the verses get repetitive. What a set you've just treated to. Talent!
