The ultimate Galilee guide! (Tips from 2 tour guides.)

The Galilee guide. If you’re planning a vacation to Israel, the Galilee will probably form part of your itinerary.

Until I’ve completed my post about the Galilee, here is a summary of what was discussed:
Main sites:
Akko (also written Acre) - a small city on the shore of the Mediterranean. It is a city of two historical layers: the underground Crusader city and the Ottoman city we see today.
Rosh HaNikra - at the northernmost point of the Israeli coastline is the closed border with Lebanon. Here you can visit the grottoes (not mentioned in the video).
Nazareth - the largest Arab city in Israel. Numerous churches, the most important of which is of course the Basilica of the Annunciation.
Tiberias - lies on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The city itself could be more appealing, but it makes for a good base for trips around the Sea of Galilee.
Main national parks:
HaHula - Israel is a paradise for birdwatchers, with half a billion birds migrating through Israel twice every year (in spring and in autumn).
Mount Meron - standing at 1208 meters tall, the highest mountain in the Galilee is a great place to hike.
Dan National Park - one of the streams feeding the Jordan River.
Banias National Park (also known as Caesarea Philippi).
Megiddo (Armageddon)
Zippori (Sepphoris)
Mount Tabor
Jewish sites:
Safed (in Hebrew we say ‘Tzfat’) - a city that became the center of Kabbalah, or Jewish mysticism, in the 16th century.
There are a lot of synagogues as the Galilee became a center of Jewish life after the destruction of the Judea area in the Great Revolt and the Bar Kokhba Revolt.
Zionist sites:
Kineret and Degania - birthplace of the kibbutz movement.
Rosh Pina, Metula, Tel Hai, Kfar Giladi - the first Jewish settlements in the Galilee.
Christian sites:
Cana - near Nazareth, where Jesus performed his first miracle by turning water into wine.
Around the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret in Hebrew):

Church of the Primacy of St Peter

Bethsaida

Transportation:
It isn’t easy to reach parks and small villages outside the cities by means of public transportation. You can rent a car in Tel Aviv (which is also a good option if you want to visit Caesarea). In the Galilee you can rent a car in Haifa or Tiberias.

I recommend staying in Nahariya!!! It's a 5 minute drive to Rosh Hanikra and 9 km from Acco. The Nahariya promenade is beautiful and accommodation cheaper.

The Galilee is my favourite place. I was lucky to have lived near there for a few months. The people are so friendly and amazing. I’ve been invited to countless bbqs, invited to sit a tables with others and more. I also like Beit Shean. Overlooked by many but amazing people and fantastic history.

In the Galilee there is a Christian (but non Christians as well) guest house called Bet Bracha in Migdol. It is a part of Christ Church also a guest house and in Jaffa David Lazarus has one, Also in Tel Aviv there is a hotel called Trumpet of Salvation (Yakov Damnkani owns it). In Eliat The hostel called The Shelter .Also in Karimel you have The Bridges of Peace

Best sites in Galliee include the national parks of Mount Arbel, or Hippos( susita) or Gamala Nature reserve or beaches the great along the Golan side of Sea of Galilee- a car ride around the lake is worthwhile

@@Travelingisraelinfo Okay Oren, the other thing you can do is to obtain some clip-on microphones (the small ones which you can clip onto your shirt) as these should pick up the sound nicely. I don't think they are very expensive btw. Also, Avirama said _"If you're a Jew you might like to go to Tzfat and buy some Judaica."_ Just to let you know, there are very many Christians who also buy Judaica. 😃

Israel a small country, but with more to see & do than many bigger countries. So much religious & historical places to see & add in the places just to rest in holiday/vacation then too many to mention. Sadly the yellow submarine in Eilat in no more but glass bottom boats are there now.
